Keyword Density. Do I need to worry about single words?

On any given article or page there will be a single word repeated several times. For example a computer shop website will certainly have the word "computer" many times. Is it something I need to worry about? I've kept my two word and three word phrases under or around 2% but it seems impossible to reduce single words below anything 30% because that's what the website is all about.

What's the community's take on single word density?

To be honest, I think it's near impossible to keep the densities of single words below say 2% for example... It all comes down to your target "phrase".

Basically, make sure that your keyword phrase density isn't too high.

What you need to do is this:

1. Go to this site

2. Type in your URL and look at the Keyword Densities of your keywords. Make notes.
3. Open Google and type in your Keyword(s). Take the top 10 "non-emd" sites and paste each one of them in the box provided under the above mentioned URL.
4. Look at the particular keyword's Density and make notes.
5. Do the same for the remainder of the sites.
6. Once you have the average, just make sure your URL's keyword densities fall within this average. Add more content if need be.
7. Done

As I mentioned in a previous post, this really DOES make a difference as I've seen it first hand.

Don't stress too much about single words and their densities. I'm sure you aren't targeting a keyword such as "computers" in anycase.

Thanks for the reply. It's a relief. No none of my keywords being targeted are single words - only adobe.com can rank for "click here"

I have my keyword phrases down to 2% and in some cases around 1.8% but I have a lot of pages to go through. I'm using seoworkers.com/tools/analyzer.html
