Keyword cannibalization question

Still learning the ropes for on-page seo. I was unaware that having two pages for same keyword can be problematic. Recently one of my landing pages was dropped for a blog post with similar content. Two questions:

  • Is it always best practice to only have one page for each keyword im focusing on?
  • If i want the landing page to rank over the blog post should i 301 redirect the blog to my desired page, or what is the best way to handle that?

Yes way better to focus attention on one page for a specific keyword, helps Google understand your site better and put it in front of eyeballs

Since i already split some similar topic, do you think it's a good idea to 301 redirect pages and focus on the single page then?

Yes.

You can merge the content too for extra effect.
 
It is better to target one main page per keyword to avoid keyword cannibalization—when multiple pages compete for the same term, it can confuse Google and hurt rankings.


If you want the landing page to rank instead of the blog post, you can

301 redirect the blog post to the landing page (if the content overlaps a lot), or
Consolidate the content and add internal links from the blog to the landing page with the right anchor text.

Just make sure the landing page offers the most value for users.

Yes, as mentioned above, it's better focus only on 1 page if not, both of contents will try to rank on the same keywords each other and that can give bad impact

I use 301 plugin for this, when i realized some of my contents are try to rank the same keywords

Yes, it’s best practice to have only one authoritative page per primary keyword to avoid keyword cannibalization.
