Keyword Bolded & Italicized for Onpage SEO?

Since penguin, panda, zebra and any other black & white creature does anyone still bold or italicize all or most of their keywords in their article?
I know it doesn't exactly look great for a natural article, but does it still work good as part of the Onpage SEO process?

I stopped doing this and I am not sure my articles are getting great juice anymore. Just wondering what others are doing???

Yes it still works, i usually only do 2 total per article of 500+ words and any article less than that i'll usually just do 1.
 
We do it for the Spanish sites we build for our clients and has been working great so far. 4 times the main kw per article, 2 italicized and 2 bolded.
 
It probably does add some minor benefit but SEO has gotten so competitive that I doubt it's going to really make much of a difference for any keywords that are worth rankings for.

If it makes the page look ugly, the difference it'll make in conversions will probably outweigh any ranking benefit.
 
That makes a lot more sense to do bold and italicize 2-3 keywords per article rather than every single one in the entire article. Will check this out and see what it does for me.
 
It is not a good idea to bold all of your content, just the main keyword. Bolding everything doesn't make anything stand out, which is what you want.
Also, take your main keyword and link it to another page of similar content.
Try and make sure your main keyword is in your H1 tag also.
SEO still does count in how you content is ranked, but it seem better to go lite and add some LSI to boost the information content
 
I wouldn't suggest bolding or italicizing every keyword. I typically bold my main keyword and 1-2 alternatives (birmingham hamburgers, hamburgers birmingham, etc). I also make a point to italicize certain keywords that are not what I am ranking for, but would be relevant to users/Google (hamburger restaurants, ingredients, etc). This is my way to trying to emphasize certain keywords without warranting a penalty.
 
what about for an entertainment website? For example, a post about a movie with the main keyword bolded, but what about actors names? Should they be bolded too?
 
I suppose you could bold actor names, but I'd be concerned that you are making the articles look unnatural without any tangible benefit since it's unlikely you'd rank for the actor names.
 
On-page is the least you can do to optimize your website and it takes only seconds anyway, so yeah it's worth doing it.

Bold/italic/underline your keywords and optimize the rest of the content as well, re titles/descriptions/meta tags, etc.

Bolding and italicizing a keyword once or twice is ok but excess of that is not recommended.
