I don't post here much, but that's only because I'm kind of a noob and don't see how I could contribute all that much. But if you guys don't mind, I'd like to ask your opinion:

So I found this keyword phrase that I thought would make a good niche blog. It's in the weight loss genre, which I know is very saturated and competitive. The keyword term gets 6,600 global searches a month, and the exact match domain is available. The "inurl" matches are over 14,000. I don't feel confident that I could compete with that especially given that it's weight loss related. But the first SERP shows sites that seem unrelated to the keyword: a couple of MySpace profiles and a metal rock band site, nothing that's related to weight loss.

My question is, should I go for the EDM and try to beat the 14,000, or move on and find an easier keyword? I suppose I have nothing to lose but time, but I am a busy woman. My time means a lot to me.

But anyway, thanks for whatever thoughts or advice you want to share.

I think this could be easy to rank and I bet you can monetize the domain even with Adsense because most probably the keyword has a high CPC. Before I give you the final answer I need to know EXACT number of monthly searches in Google keyword tool that this keyword has.

Hi there and greetings from Athens, Greece. This is my first post in the forum! In order to find the market value of a particular keyword (meaning how much money per month are spent online on this keyword-sales, leads etc) i follow this process:

In Google Adwords i open Traffic Estimator, i place max cpc a number such as 99 pounds, in a way that the average position reaches 1 . This will output the average CPC of the particular keyword for ranking always 1. Then using the keyword tool i find the Local monthly searches. I multiply these two figures and as a result i have the monthly worth of the particular keyword. An example to illustrate this.

    keyword - car audio control

Global Monthly Searches 1300 - Estimated avg cpc 0.79

    Worth/Month - > 1.027.000 pounds

    Hope this helped!
