I don't post here much, but that's only because I'm kind of a noob and don't see how I could contribute all that much. But if you guys don't mind, I'd like to ask your opinion:
So I found this keyword phrase that I thought would make a good niche blog. It's in the weight loss genre, which I know is very saturated and competitive. The keyword term gets 6,600 global searches a month, and the exact match domain is available. The "inurl" matches are over 14,000. I don't feel confident that I could compete with that especially given that it's weight loss related. But the first SERP shows sites that seem unrelated to the keyword: a couple of MySpace profiles and a metal rock band site, nothing that's related to weight loss.
My question is, should I go for the EDM and try to beat the 14,000, or move on and find an easier keyword? I suppose I have nothing to lose but time, but I am a busy woman. My time means a lot to me.
But anyway, thanks for whatever thoughts or advice you want to share.
Cheers!
