Hey guys, noobie question here. Don't be too harsh on me :P

If I am investing in a campaign, and I have the option of 5-10 keywords, how many should I be using?

It probably depends on the niche, but my general question is more keywords or less?

I have 5 that are great for my niche, and a few others that are decent/low volume. Is it better to just use the 5 or add a few extra? (Assuming that I pay the same cost for up to 10 keywords)

Without knowing your target market and what campaign you would be running it is really difficult to answer. Give us some more details then you can get some good ideas here.
 
Rather than focusing on only five keywords, you can work on with some more keywords too. Make sure it is more relevant to your business and don't focus on any generic keywords. To be more specific, we can't conclude in keyword usage.
 
Get more keywords as possible as u can and use all the low competitive KW for your site. you will get a good traffic.
 
Try branding the main domain niche if you run offsite optimization campaigns. Then go with targeting your marketing keywords.
Initially try with 30 keywords. 5-10 is an average up to me.

Do not take high competitive ones and make yourself struggle. Prefer long tail ones and get them ranked in top positions.

Agree with this, you have to branding your domain first :D
 
its more competitive in seo so you give more kw on your page.... it will be more competitive to others:clap2: ...
 
It is bad to focus on a single keyword or too many keywords, probably it is waste of time. The exact number of keywords to be targeting will completely based on your budget and timeframe.

There is no limitation on competitive. You can use more than 50 keywords as much as you can.
So don't worry about number of keywords for all. Ok.
Keywords are much important in SEO so you should be careful on choosing exact and related keywords more.

Use as much keywords as you want. You can even target those low competitive keywords to maximize everything. Just don't stuff your content with the same kind of keyword over and over again.
 
It boils down to on-page seo, if you like to rank for keywords, the first thing is to avoid keyword stuffing while listing down longtail/secondary keywords. Some bhw members use Silo structure to interlink while others personalized methods.

I agree with this. Just try to find a perfect structure that suits your website. Who knows you might be able to be able to find the perfect keyword structure formula that will help you remain on top for a long time.

You are correct but if you can just share how to be the structure that will help for his sites keywords.
 
Simple, a page for every topic and a few keywords for every topic of your niche. This keeps pages relevant.
 
I would suggest not having too many. I would say that you will want at least 5 but go for no more than 7 or 8.
