Keeping yourself anonymous

Hi guys, I'd have one question regarding Twitter (applies to other social medias as well).

Is there any guarantees that your identity will be hidden, no matter what? I mean, if I'll operate Twitter accounts, there is NO WAY that someone could either locate me, or identify my real name (maybe through the pics I post from my PC? So far I've been posting pics found from google, and I am aware of how to remove the metadata(?) from pics, if needed).

So is there a way, someone could get a hint, who's operating on what Twitter account, given that you haven't mention any personal details whilst registering etc.

EDIT: So I guess this goes to those super PC/Internet savy's that can do "illegal" stuff, when searching information through internet :)

Why are you worried? Why would someone want to track you?
 
OP there is no thing like 100% anonymous. If you are doing some thing really wrong you will get track for sure and this forum is not dead.

Not doing anything illegal. It was just a simple question. I don't want to reveal my true identity, when doing business with Twitter, and with multiple accounts.

World is a greedy place, full of jealous people.

Of course the law enforcement can track you, but I wasn't asking that. Just wanted to know, if some regular Joe could pull things like that off. And nope, don't want to know how's that done if it's possible. In case you're wondering.

You have to wait longer for a reply on sub-forums that are not on the navigation bar since most people on this forum congregate in those conspicuous sub-forums. Also, unless you ask a question pertaining to PBNs or Wordpress, then expect fewer and slower replies to your thread.

For twitter, you can do it with tor, but you will need a good email account to reactivate your twitter account, as tor uses different ip everytime, after some days twitter will ask you to verify your email again.
There is no way to be anonymous from home/office if you are a newbie.

I feel that I haven't got a reply still to the question: can AVERAGE JOE locate your identity/location? Of course there are those extraordinary people that know everything related to internet/hacking/whatever. I don't think for a minute they couldn't do stuff like that.

Your Average Joe only understands the Internet at a superficial level; they know how to navigate social media websites, use Wikipedia, and use basic search terms in Google. Your Above-Average Joe will only be able to do a reverse image search on Google (thanks to television programmes such as "Cat Fish") and possibly know 1 search modifier at the most.

Some Black Hat World members will be able to find information about you if you accidentally leave breadcrumbs (e.g., a scammer on BHW uses the username "GoFishApricots2323", but also uses the same username on a fake Facebook account which has a link in 1 post to a money site where the scammer uses their real name, which also leads to their personal social media accounts and so on and so forth), although in my experience, only a few of us can be bothered to do it.

I think, if you want to remain anonymous, you need to use a private IP address and of course fake name.

No average joe would be able to locate your identity unless he pays someone to do the dirty work.

Using a random name generator and random user name generator for each fake twitter,FB,pinterst etc. will help keep someone anonymous.

And then on running websites one can be tracked if they use the same GA account for multiple sites, so a new account for each website that has different information+username. But if one wants to go really far they can choose to use different Analytics program, like one website Piwik another one Google Analytics,Yandex Metrika, Yahoo Analytics.
 
Use a VPN paid with bitcoin and firefox with some kind of cookies cleaning plugin (which you should be using anyway) and voila, you're way over your anonymous needs. Install a VirtualMachine on your machine and spoof all your resolution / whatever info if you want to be super safe. (tho we're way into tinfoil hat teritoriy here, at least for your own needs).

Anyway, as some other users have already said, your average joe won't have the slightest clue on how to get your real info. And if you really step on someone's toes, the method above should cover your ass quite well.

Let's kick it up a notch: Use a VPN that does not keep logs and that you purchased with BitCoin on a fresh computer with the Tails operating system that you paid for in cash at a private location and only use that computer with a public Wi-Fi connection in a city 100 miles away from your own and never log into your personal accounts or anything that could be traced back to you.

There, anonymity and paranoia at its finest.
 
How to stay 100% anonymous? If your life depended on it here's what I'd do.

Get a dedicated laptop that you haven't used before, that you didn't purchase with anything traceable (name, credit card etc.), and never connect to any of your own networks or networks where you're traceable from. This should be a fresh install of an OS and you should enter no personal info on this or anything that can be associated with you. Remove webcam, mic and battery.

Leave house without any mobile phone or GPS system and start driving down the street in a car with dummy license plates and tinted windows. Get something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFjt5Z6lqGQ

Plug in laptop battery, turn on laptop and start searching for free wifi hotspots that don't require logins (I'm not sure if XFINITY requires a login, but if not then there should be tons of these). Pull over and connect to the network. Do all your dirty work from you car. When you're done, remove the laptop battery until you're ready to do it again.

Drive far away and switch the license plates back to your real one when you are certain there are no security cameras. Drive home.

Using a proxy or VPN in this scenario would actually be less secure because it is a middle man that could be traced back to you. Also, if you're looking to be anonymous from the comfort of your home, that's pretty much impossible.

And the location where it was bought didn't have working security cameras, and use TOR and a proxy in addition to the WIFI+VPN. One can go pretty far out worrying about privacy, but the reality is if one isn't doing anything illegal or something that an average person can find out, there doesn't need to be many tools one has to use for privacy.

There is no reason to spend the effort and time as well as money building up privacy that can protect onself from a 10 figure person or company when the person that may try to come after you is only make 4 figures.
