Dang, I didn't know there were that many currencies out there. How do you go about figuring out which one is worth investing in?

research the devs, the coin's detailed info, and see how many pages their thread on bitcointalk got to in a period of time

There is also Bittrex, which I use quite frequently!

Reason? ICO's or Initial Coin Offerings
Just be sure to do your research because there is still a lot of scam coins. I always make sure to find out who the developer is and what their track record looks like.
