I once heard another person talk about selling this type of product on Amazon, the advantage being that it is relatively easy to create items, but I was wondering if this approach requires the creation of many books to be able to generate more significant sales? Also, does this require a high level of design skills?

It does not require a high level of design skills. There are plenty of tools that make this very easy for you.

Yes, it would require 100+ books to start earning decently and depending on your skills you could do that in one week, or one month.

Respect to OP for sharing such valuable information and step-by-step examples. I am sure many designers, newbies, and everyone else looking to add a passive source of income portfolio to their arsenal would appreciate you. And please spare 10 minutes per week or so to update this thread.

You can use PuzzleWiz for puzzle interiors, and Book Bolt for other types of interiors.
