KDP Journey as a Non-Writer

Yesterday I had 12 sales.
2 coloring books that sold for the first time ever.
6 sudoku puzzle books.
2 fishing log books.
2 lined journals.

I've also uploaded two coloring books yesterday, one with animals and the other with unicorns. Both are targeted at kids.

You've got a very motivating journey and I must admit I'm impressed.
Question: What program do you to create the log books?

How many books are you up to now ?

I got 81 books live in total.

When I create custom interiors, I use Adobe InDesign, sometimes Photoshop. But for the fishing and diving log books I've mentioned, I used the ready made interiors that Bookbolt offers.

Make sure to check the first post for the tools I use.

I've uploaded another 26 low content books. I've stumbled upon a youtube channel of someone doing pretty well with low-no content books.
His numbers are stunning, but he also has quite a lot books live. I've got 107 books live now, and the video has motivated me to upload more:

Would you mind sharing the YT channel?

How do you write inside those books?

By using tools like Boobolt and Puzzlewiz. Looks like you haven't read the thread. I don't want to repeat myself after every comment, so please check the first post in the thread for more information.

Interesting journey for sure! Looks like it's going well for you which is awesome. My wife is an excellent writer, but this is still pretty intriguing to see a thread on. We joined Book Bolt to see what it's about out of curiosity, but I'm honestly struggling to see any value with the site. The research section is pretty bad. I searched for a term and it brought up generic results without the keyword at all. Did I find a golden niche? Nope, searching the same term on Amazon showed me the true results. The cover designer is VERY basic with literally no clipart to choose from so I don't know why you wouldn't just use photoshop instead for the same monthly price. The chrome extensions do seem convenient, but don't really justify the monthly cost IMO. Maybe I'm missing something?

I still use Photoshop for my high quality low content books, but the cover creator is great when I make covers for lined journals and other no content books. KDP is strict to the milimeter about covers, so bookbolt makes it easy for me to not mess stuff up since it already has all the exact premade cover sizes.

Also the bulk cover maker is a lifesaver when you already have designs that you've used for Merch by Amazon or any other POD platform, and want to convert them to notebook covers. It converts them to the exact size you need, so you can have hundreds of covers upload ready in minutes.

About the research section, it's pretty much the same as with the SEO tools. You search for keywords on semrush and ahrefs, but still check google for those keywords to see what you get.
I always go and search for products on Amazon too, but bookbolt is a good starting point for me when doing research.
I never rely on one tool only, but I incorporate them into my workflow however I can.

Totally get it. If it works in your workflow then it works! For my needs I just found the tool very lacking overall. I'll admit though that the bulk cover maker could definitely be useful for those with tons of designs ready to go.

Hi, thank you for your thread. Kdp looks like a very cool Idea / method.

I don't have a Kindle, so it's maybe a dumb question : how do people use the mandala coloring Book ? They can draw with the Kindle ? Or do they Print the book then color/draw on paper ?

Thanks :)

I plan on writing a step by step guide when I have the time. I'm busy creating some quality coloring books now, and after that it's bulk no content time.
I've selected a few of my designs that would make cool notebooks using the bulk cover maker, and it's quite a collection:upload_2019-8-17_23-10-32.png

You don't upload ebooks, but paperbacks (physical books) that amazon prints and ships to the buyers.

Thanks for you answer. I had no clue that Amazon had a print & ship service ! Thanks again for you insight !

Very interesting topic, thanks for sharing.
Didn't even know about this amazon service.

Hi @M4XW3LL
Thank you for your great explanation. Even that i work with KDP for more than 5 years, i still learned new things thank to you.
I write technical books, but now i am planning to start working with coloring books and puzzles, etc.

I have a question, what is the usual number of pages and the price you put for the book.

Because the price of 2.99$ i think is not functioning anymore

Thank you

I usually do 100 pages, and start pricing low with like $0.5 profit until the book gains a good rank and gets some reviews.

Have you considered buying reviews for your best seller? I am sure there is a BTS that could provide you a relatively cheap service to get more sales.
