    Hi everybody!

I want to try my luck with Teespring since everybody is hyping it.

    Targeted Audience
I have not done a lot of research regarding a highly converting target audience, but I want to start with College Sport. Many people buy tons of merchandising to show their support for their local college team. This is clearly an American thing as it is less common in Europe.

I was digging into a team that recently won the NCAA championship in Basketball and immediately saw a competitor advertising teespring campaings on his fanpage.

    Budget
This is not really easy to figure out an appropriate budget. I calculated with 150 € (about 207 $) for the design since I will run it on 99designs to crowd source my shirt design. Another 150 € is for Ads (mostly FB). I will start out slow and increase the expenses towards the ending of my campaign.

    Advertizing
I will start a Facebook Fanpage for T-Shirts since I am planning on starting more campaigns if this one is successful or gives me insights and the chance to learn from my mistakes.

I want to try Facebooks Dark posts to advertize the Shirts in the Newsfeed. Also I want to ask some locals to vote for their favorite design. This way I can choose a winning design easier and I can promote the T-Shirt for free in advance. I got a free UID Scraper and want to narrow down my targeted audience to real hardcore fans first before i go for the mass.

I also will promote the Shirts on Twitter and Google+. With Twitter I want to get some retweets by using youlikehits.com and similar services. I also plan on using an optimized image with 600×300px for twitter to get more attention.

    Conversion Tracking
I have seen that Teespring provides the option to track conversions with Facebook Ads. I hope this works out fine and gives me some useful data for no extra costs.

    Facebook Fanpage

As I mentioned above I want to start a Fanpage and sell more T-Shirts if it goes well. I also will choose a name, which I can use for branding later on.

    T-Shirt Design
I don't really want to reveal too much about the design. I just plan on using some of the logos and pictures as a template for the designers. I am aware of copyrights and trademarks, but I don't really know what is doable and what would be an infringement and could get expensive in the end. Help please!
I might want to go into some sort of a comic style and put the city name on the shirt too.

    Plan B
I will put the threshold to a minimum quantity of 10 shirts, but in case the campaign is unsuccessful I might run it twice. My Plan B is to set up different outlets and sell the design on other sites that don't run based on limited campaigns. So I hope to recoup at least all the design and advertizing costs.

    Goal
My goal is clearly to make as much profit as possible, but the minimum goal is to get at least break even and learn something for future campaigns.

    ---------------
I will try to update this thread and post as much information as possible, so that everybody can learn something in case I burn some money here.

I see there is not as much interest in Teespring as I thought.

Well my design contest is running and will end soon.

Expenses will be 164 € for the t-shirt design.

Currently doing some targeting research for my custom audience on facebook.

    164 € ???
Where are you getting your design from?

I can do it much cheaper just to see how things go with your journey :)

P.S: I also started my journey with TeeSpring earlier today and created two campaigns for totally different niche. And since I'm a designer myself so I don't have to pay anyone.....and gonna try free promotions first :)

I'm guessing this price is for both design and FB ads coz otherwise that is an obscene price to pay
    just for a design

I tried Teespring with some pretty targeted campaigns and didn't have any results at all. I think in order for this to work well you need a laser targeted campaign and really low Cost Per Click.

It is just the design. Since I am not able to make the designs on my own I am trying to get high quality designs.

I used 99designs.com and ran a design contest. Thes are usually more expensive, but you have more designs to choose from.

I am getting ready to start my ad campaign on facebook. I already set up some examples. The design looks great and Teespring has been very helpful with the setup on their site.

    Keep you updated!

I want to see how it's gonna turn, cos you already spend so much on design.
Hope it will sell very well :D

That is not an unreasonable price to pay for a stellar design. Too many people have the, "everything should cost $5" mentality. The only things that actually cost $5 are things that someone can create at the push of a button. Inexpensive designs look terrible.

To make money on Teespring, though, you really need to have someone on your team who can do the designs for free. Then you can do lots of campaigns and your only cost is FB advertising.

You also have to be very targeted, as someone else said. And your designs have to be very, very original. It's not just the artwork that matters, but the composition.

In my experience Design and a targeted campaign are equally important and should be given top priority. If one of them is not working, you are going to have no results at all. Worth spending money on a nice T-shirt design.
