Just because OP likes celebrity gossip and news, that does not justify being pompous about your disdain for that social culture.
There is a world outside of BHW, and it matters for several reasons. The biggest reason for IMers is because we are in the business of converting information into dollar signs.
If Jane Doe is getting married or John Smith is coming out as gay, not only do we have content to produce around but we also get a free niche handed to us.
Body lotion sells the most when a celebrity has baby-fever (something about a motherly glow *eye roll*) Celeb marriages shows an uptick in vacation packages and make-up sold, with all those photos they upload pre and post marriage. A celebrity that "just" realized they like the same sex creates a higher demand for LGBT merchandise.
The best IMers and business people keep their non-professional opinions and emotions at the door. I'm not saying you shouldn't believe in anything. To clarify, if you want to indulge in your opinions and emotions, have at it! It's a consumer-friendly world. If you want to make money, put your big kid pants on, do the f*cking work, and keep your emotions in check.
