I just want to leave some advice to some of the people getting taken for a ride these days on JVs and services gone bad.

There are reputable people offering services here. They are usually senior members with rep and reviews from the mods and past customers. Their sales threads usually have been going for a long time and they have been a member here for at least 3 or 4 months, but even then, some of these guys run a scam and take the money and run. There was a an autoblog expert just a little while ago who scammed a lot of trusting people. SO BE CAREFUL. Don't go giving someone thousands of dollars of work your first time, try $20 and see what happens.

If you absolutely need to find services that these big boys don't offer or you don't want to pay for, for heavens sake, don't find the newest noob to JV with. You have no protection if things go wrong. Go to GetAFreelancer and hire there. At least they have some tools to handle a dispute and you may only lose a small escrow amount (min $30). They have scammers there too, but at least you have something to rely on.

Excellent advice tygrus, have had my share of problems in the past with offline business jv's and your guidance not only applies to online but offline also.

Don't pay the whole amount on services upfront - that helps too.

People at GAF are out of work for a reason. There is absolutely no reason to trust them over a BHW member.

Actually I've worked with many freelancers who pull down 6 figs a year providing cheap services. So they're not starving for work, you just have to use common sense - if the prices are too low, chances are it's bullshit. Just like iTrader here, you can check reviews and references for anyone you hire. Trust or no, at least you have the benefit of escrow there.

JV is like friendship between boy and girl, it could work, but there always will be a party who wants a little more than the other and the friendship will be fucked up

    but good advices, indeed!

and of course this has to be the nr.1 rule:

@tygrus, I totally agree with you, reviews and reputation do not guarantee any thing.. give the guy a try first with a small amount.. .

Guess some of them are still showing up..!

Absolutely, there are tons of scammers and poor quality worker there too, but at least the interface tries to give some legitimacy to people with good reviews and protection using the escrow feature.
