Just won $150k....

So, I get this class action lawsuit mail today saying that I won $150k settlement from First Premier Bank. Case was filed in 2006 but I had no idea until now. The letter goes on to say that the bank mislead online user such as myself into paying bills online but being charged $10+ per payment plus additional fees... Great free $150k.... But, I continue to read that the attorney's fees, costs, and expenses = $50k and their incentive award = $2.5k... So, I am left with $97.5k before taxes, which might leave me with $45-55k??? I have the option of "opting out" and suing myself. The final approval is on June 11 of this year. Should I opt out or just take the money and don't bitch about the attorney fees? If I get my own attorney it might be more expenses but I might get a bigger settlement. But, I might win and get a smaller settlement. Also, it might take awhile before I even get any money...

are you sure that amount isnt split between every person that was frauded by first premier bank? Thats more than likely what it is man, im sure there are thousands of people included in there, you probably wont get much lol. Then again i could be wrong

First Premier Bank Agrees to Refund New York Consumers and End Fraudulent Practices

New York, NY (AUG 15, 2007) - Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo today announced an agreement with First Premier Bank to resolve an investigation into the company?s illegal and deceptive marketing of subprime credit cards to thousands of consumers statewide with poor or no credit.
Under the terms of the settlement, First Premier, based in South Dakota, will pay $4.5 million in refunds and $105,000 in penalties and costs. The company will also reform its illegal billing and deceptive marketing tactics.

YOu were told wrong bro. I don't know anything about it but you are not getting that amount of money. If you're lucky you'll get a couple/three hundred bucks and I doubt you'll even see that much.
Class action lawsuits are filed by pimps (aka, lawfirms) who get their 30-40% of the settlement right off the bat. Then the remaining amount is split between the thousands or millions of "plaintiffs" (aka consumers who never even knew there was a suit to begin with) who see squat.

The only people to make money in class action suits are the suits. Well, the revenue services are usually pretty happy about it too.

For the 'little' guy though, anything is something.
