As a beginner, I've done lots of information and know the basics
there's just one thing that bothers me. Keywords.

Say I make a website, everyone is telling me to get good keywords. How?

How will they work? How do I get keywords? what programs/software does everyone use? what does it mean when "keywords rank well"?

Basically I'm wondering what are keywords, and how can I use them?

thanks to anyone that replies.

Keyword is what you type in to google to find something. If you are searching for a certain product, keywords could include [buy productx], [cheap productx], [buy productx uk] and so on.

As the owner of a site, or someone thinking of starting a site, you want to target good keywords, so maybe the keyword [cheap boxing gloves] gets 300 searches a day ,has good commercial value and also has weak competition in google. This mean's you can easily be in the top 10 sites in google when people type in "cheap boxing gloves", this exposes you to a possible 300 visits a day, you can convert a % of those people into money using ads or being an affiliate or what ever.

Type "google adwords keyword tool" into google, and let your journey into keyword research begin. Pro tip: use exact matchs only.

Welcome to the internets.

Haha, good trolling. Try another a little less obvious...

Checkout some super sticky threads .

You will get everything about keywords and keyword research

Keywords are the search terms that people use to find a website. Some keyword get tons of searches, while others get few. The goal is to find good keywords, meaning terms that alot of people search and that are easy to rank for. (Rank means get your site listed high in Google)

I don't know what would make you think I'm trolling, I'm new here and just asking some basic questions in order to begin.

As for everyone else, thanks for your information, I just have a few more questions.
Won't people just spam their pages with "good" keywords? or is the plan to select a few keywords?

And how does one target keywords? Say I'm making a website, and found a few good keywords for my subject, then what do I do with them? make an article with those keywords in the title? add meta tags?

Thanks in advance to all that reply.

Doesn't sound like you read at all but yet you're claming 'i've done lots of information know everything about making money online' ....maybe thats why that person said you're trolling

Spend a good month reading stickes, reputable member posts, you will start understanding a lot more.

Idk why people open these kind of threads in the first place. lucass i understand you are new BUT if you search on G about keywords or SEO you will find tons of info. Make threads only when u really can't find answers , Download some 'SEO for idiots" ebooks and start from 0, try things , make mistakes and so on. No offence but your thread is pointless...

I edited the first post, you're right. That came off too strong, didn't mean that.

I will do as you say, I'll read some stickies and such. Do you have any to point me toward?

i will suggest to you google adword keyword tool, in this tool you can Enter one keyword or phrase per line to see what related word searches your ad will show on.

When someone is searching for information on the web, they will usually visit a search engine and type in some words describing what they are looking for. The search engine then checks its database and returns the results listing pages that meet the words submitted.
These words used by people searching can be called keywords or search terms. If you have done a search using the search engines, you will know that a single word will generate results that are very broad and frequently irrelevant. To fine-tune your search, you need to use a number of words or a phrase. This often gives you a more relevant search result.

How does one use keywords within their website? once you've selected a number of keywords, do you include those in the title? meta tags? anchor text? article title? and what does it mean when people say "3-5% keyword on the page"?

Keywords are the one which are reserved words and will be having special meaning and special purpose.keywords cannot be used as identifiers.Keyword instructs the compiler to do some process.

can you elaborate and explain more simply please? I don't understand much of what you said.

When someone has keywords, what do they do/where do they go?
