as you say, youve been keeping the backlinking white hat, so a few questions for you:

1. how many backlinks in total

2. over what perioid of time did you acquire them

3. what percentage of your links come from article directories

4. how many core articles were there before spinning

5. how many separate directories have you put spun articles on

reason for asking is that some I.M.'ers have seen (some) of their sites take big hits recently if there was a disproportionate reliance on article directory links...

I noticed that one blog site that I commented on, that's a PR 5 put my comment in the comment section that goes to all their pages and I recently got like 50 from the same site. Could that be it? Too many links from one site? Seems pretty messed up as I can't control that. To answer brit I would say maybe 15-20% not that much from article directories. I aquired them over 6 months and there all pretty equal no real dominate links. So maybe it's that website that gave me a ton of links all the sudden but I have a lot of high pr backlinks that I would think offset that.

I'm in the same boat except I rose to the 2nd page of my main keyword in 2-3 weeks building as many links as I coul (xrumer, SB, senuke, high pr etc.) and then I dropped all the way to 900+, last pages of SERPs. One month later and I'm still there so I'm going to leave it alone now. It really sucks cause I spent a lot of money on it for no profit.

There is no messages, I just noticed that every keyword with my main keyword went to crap but all the other keywords that don't have my main keyword are still doing fine...WTF? So like if my site was cheapesttvsaround.com Everything that has cheapest in it has went to crap, everything else is staying the same. So somehow my main word is devalued or not recognized or something. Anyone have this problem? I'm really confused on this one..

Sometimes it happens. I had a #1 ranked site disappear for 5 months off the SERPS as if it was deindexed and then reappear 6 months later.

Since I have lots of sites spread across lots of affiliate schemes, it doesn't bother me too much anymore. But 22k - ouch!

Don't worry and just keep on building QUALITY links. Do not use SB directly on your site or it will hurt. Rather build some articles/web2.0s and build backlinks to your backlinks.

Ya agreed, I'm just trying to figure out what happen so I can minimize it next time but I guess with google it's useless trying to totally figure them out.

Yeah Google does some crazy shit sometimes. I was battling with a keyword for months, I eventually got the #1 spot for like 3 weeks, then all of a sudden (in fact it was new years eve) BOOM! I'm completely out the listings, not even in the top 500. I reappeared a week later in position 40 or so.. Then after another week I jumped around abit and ended up at #8. I did some more link building but pretty much stuck at #8 for ages.

In the end I gave up with the keyword, I checked today just for the hell of it and now I'm in #2 :|

Seriously, Google can give you the run around for MONTHS and you'll still have no fucking clue what went wrong. My advice is to keep building links for the keyword your targetting, but at the same time make sure you have other sites out there that your ranking for. Google can and will knock a site out the listings without any warning.

So I'm still low in google, dropped to 695 for my main keyword. I talked to others that said there was a big update in google on April 6th. Anyone else notice a big change April 6th?

Similar things have happened to a few of my smaller sites.

quick question do all your backlinks use same anchor text? I found that having too little anchor variation has been a big problem for me. Once I started varying my anchor text google liked me a bit more. My guess is if all your backlinks have same anchor text google is hitting that on the head. but I have been wrong before.

Ya I noticed that's a problem with this site, most of my backlinks have been of the main keyword. I do switch it up but maybe not enough. Does that mean I'm probably screwed for awhile or I should just keep getting backlinks with other anchor text?

i've experienced the same prob for about 3 weeks and then my site reappear on G00gle.I don't know what went wrong, but what i've done was only keep building backlinks as usual and ta da...reappear in 3 weeks.

yea same thing, but usually they always come back up ( that is if you were up there in the first place

have been 3 rd for months, then i'm in the hundreds now I am coming back, was 32, then 20, now 16. but this happened a few months ago 2.. So expect to always see them dAnces ! and also expect your site to rank back up aswell.. sooner or later.
its a burden we have to live with
