Im fairly new to SEO with the intention of hopefully working from home over the next few years.....anyway;

Todays UK news has been saturated with a story of someone called Derrick Bird who is going around cumbria shooting people. (11 so far).

Anyway, I thought....there must be loads of people googling this guy. So...I added "derrick bird" as a keyword to an adwords compaign. Within 30 minutes I had around 1500 impressions.

Totally useless for my website, and I doubt I'll get any clicks let alone conversions.....but just wondered if anyone uses this kind of situation to make money, and how?

Just to add...this is a terrible news story for all involved, and my heart goes out to the families. Im not looking to make money from it, Im just using it as an example of a red hot google search term which is totally off the radar and came out of the blue.

An idea can be:-

"Tips on what precautions can be made to avoid falling as a victim of derrick bird"

Like don't walk alone in dark streets and such :rolleyes:

I'm always checking out G's hot trends, topics, insights etc for hot topics, but a lot of them are searches like this, where i can't think of a way to monetize it, and the traffic will disappear in the matter of a month anyway.
