Hello BHW, I'm still learning about Black Hat SEO and have just recently begun to investigate it. I see many different approaches discussed here, but I'm not sure which are the most effective at the moment. If you've been in this field for a while, what tips would you give someone who is just getting started?

Start small, test one method at a time, track your results, and focus on learning how each tactic works before scaling up.

If I had to strip it down to the essentials after years in SEO (both white hat and black hat), I’d say this:
  1. Stop chasing “tactics of the month.”
    Trends on BHW move fast — what’s hot today may be useless (or dangerous) in 6 months. Build a foundation in how search engines actually work before chasing specific tricks.
  2. Master one monetization model first.
    Whether it’s affiliate, lead gen, or e-com, your SEO strategy should serve a clear business model. I’ve seen too many people spread thin testing every method without mastering one.
  3. Understand risk vs. reward in black hat.
    BH SEO can scale traffic faster than white hat, but it’s higher maintenance. Use it where the payoff justifies the churn — short-life money sites, parasite SEO, churn & burn, etc.
  4. Leverage automation — but keep human oversight.
    Tools, scripts, and AI can save you hundreds of hours, but if you don’t review the output, you’ll burn domains, money, and time.
  5. Track everything.
    Guessing is expensive. Every test, link, and content push should be logged with dates and results so you can double down on what’s working instead of “hoping” it works.
If you treat BH SEO like a business — not just a bag of tricks — you’ll last longer and earn more than 90% of people who try it.
 
Start small with one method, test results, and sale only after you understand what works.
