I've been running a website for almost 7 months now without making even a single penny. Very frustrated as you could imagine, but something else happen. After reading a lot of threads here I decided to shift my focus to PPL in the porn industry and 7 days later I made my first sale. Not much only 1 dollar. 7 months of hard work vs 7 days of not so hard work. I just hope to be able to scale things up.

Moving from zero to something small is often more difficult than moving from something small to something big, so you are surely on the right track. Don't be afraid to try different things, just don't try too many things all at once. It might quite hard in the beginning, but you will sooner or later get to a point where you'll be very happy that you invested all the time and effort.
