Just joined - Got scammed - Advice?

Hi everyone--

Just joined and posted in hire freelancer - had a few people reply and hired all. Half of them deleted the messages on TG and ghosted.

I get it - they are just trying to cash grab for a little bit of money - I'm not sad for myself, I wasn't trying to be overly protective.

My question is:

Is there best practices on hiring people on here? TG allows the messages to be deleted so I don't even have a history of who stole - but it seems everyone wants to use TG.
Is it common place to escrow funds in some way?

Anyhow - just looking for advice on how to actually be able to hire people and get things done but not have to just pay quick scammers for nothing.

never use telegram

always use bhw pm for payments

No telegram - hire people with history here - and only communicate on here.

So strange - one of the guys actually started doing the work - and then like a day in just deleted the chat and blocked me. hahha

Odd.
 
BHW is the best place for discussions and a genuine seller will agree.
Only deal with JR VIP'S
Use Escrow.com or PayPal with invoices

You can only hire jr vip or other upgraded members.

Hiring non upgraded in not allowed.
By hiring non upgraded member you the one who is breaking the bhw rules.
Its not a matter of choice.
 
How do you officially hire someone and pay them on BHW?

thats also happen with me

one jr vip @Christopherr scam me $200 and deleted all chat in telegram. Now i have no proof that he did scam.

Telegram is mostly used by scammers.

- Don't do business with non-upgraded members (Jr. VIP).
- Ask for a verification at BHW PM if they try to start a business talk at Telegram. There are many scammers pretending to be Telegram impersonation victims.
- Ask the freelancer/seller for proofs of his work (e. g. access to the SaaS solution, trial accounts etc.).
- Only agree in a 50 : 50 or 33 : 33 : 33 splitting (50 % payment upfront, 50 % payment for the release - or 33 % upfront, 33 % prototype, 33 % release).
- Don't agree in PayPal family and friends payments.
 
Even if they delete your messages, you'll have payment history. Just find out who they are and report them. BHW has zero tolerance policy towards scams.

If someone directly sends you a message on telegram with something like "Hi, I'm Starblazer from BHW. I have a bottle of snake oil, highest quality and freshly collected. I can give you a huge discount." You should find the member on BHW and send a PM for confirmation. Moreover, you're not allowed to trade from non-upgraded members. They could disappear without a trace and come back with a new account. Jr. VIPs and Premium Members with some reputation in the forum stay away from such scams. So, you should be careful from next time.

they sent you pm in bhw ?

bhw pm is safest place to do business. they contacted you in bhw pm so all records is there.
 
Yes, I posted an ad and then they contacted me via BHW pm - and asked to go to tg - where the rest took place.

I don't care about tracking them down - I'm not getting the money back - but if the community wants reports of people who do this I'm happy to name names - but don't want to cause trouble if that is in poor taste.

you will learn how to reach the right people by the time most of us got scammed at least once . I got scammed like six times here in bhw but every time we learn something new

Yeah - it was an inexpensive lesson so I'm glad to have it.
