I have only been on it in a matter of a couple of minutes, and let me tell you! Its fucking awesome. The speed everything loads is so much quicker, web browser loads in a matter of minutes... software runs smooth..... I'm really impressed with it. I use to have Ubuntu awhile back ago and loved it back then, I honestly forgot how nice it is. If you dont have it.... you should get it, Ill be able to get so much work done faster now since I dont have to wait forever for a page to load.

Okay now that I got that out of the way..... Is there any good marketing programs out there that runs on Linux? Such as Article spinners, Auto friend adders, bombers, e-mail harvesters...... anything like that??????

None to my knowledge. Linux users usually write their own tools ;)

You can always run a virtual windows machine in Ubuntu using:
Code:
www.virtualbox.org/
This would allow you to run all your favorite Win only IM apps.

Yea I would get virtual box, or WINE (windows emu) for marketing programs but Linux is far better - welcome to the dark side!

Hahaha, thanks for the welcome.... guess I need to learn some coding then huh! I bet it would be really nice to create your own software for marketing because you can customize it to what you need it for. Is it pretty hard to learn the code and stuff to do all those sweet things?

I wouldn't be impressed if that was the case. ahaha.

Well ive not had anything but problems with Linux (hardware related though) and no one is helping me out in my thread :(

But I would like to use it

lol i didnt mean minutes, i ment seconds. Really, what version of unbuntu did you install???? I installed it on a laptop and its running fine..... didnt even have to find any new devices.

Web brower loading time isn't so much of a problem if you have an average broadband service provider, but for softwares it can really helps sometimes when the CPU and RAM aren't so good.

Your internet connection speed has nothing to do with your OS, running linux doesn't mean websites will load faster, it won't effect your internet connection, as it has nothing to do with your OS.

Which OS is the best to be installed in linux?XP or Vista?I heard Vista is very bad for running SEO tools. Also do anyone know where do I edit my hosts file for running Xamp server. Also if you want to create any tools for linux which programming language is the best for its purpose?

@Cybermeid, it's down to personal prefence, try out ubuntu from the live cd, you can use the full OS without reformating, you can run it from the disc alone, windows 7 is better then vista, I can't see how vista is bad for seo tools, vista overall is a rubbish OS, so that may be the reason. I'd suggest looking into learning PERL, maybe Python.

I dont have license to install windows 7,is XP enough to run inside the virtual box?
And I heard red hat is the best linux for security purposes. Is that true?

Fedora or Redhat which is the latest one,or are both the same?I Want to move to such linux distributions. Also does both of the above have iptables like ubuntu for firewall? Also will I run into any problems while running XP or other windows inside the virtual box under fedora and red hat.
I want to move to either of the above,so which one should you suggest considering the fact that I was using linux for the past 6months?

If you have any more linux question drop me a pm and i'll help ya out

What about Mandiva? My friend told its good and i'm downloading it currently.

Is there any way you can list a place to get some really concise newbie tutorials? I installed Linux on a USB flash stick the other day and think it looks super slick... but I can't figure out how to get online. I don't understand how the drivers work in relating to the ones installed on the main Windows XP OS.

You may as well use Windows. Use Slackware Linux or Debian Linux. Ubuntu simplifies everything and teaches you very little.

I am using kubuntu and its showing an error while installing virtualbox
Which distribution is more stable and has iptables, the firewall?

Generally it works right "out of the box". If not plug in an Ethernet cord into the computer. A little box will pop up and tell you which driver it needs to download. You install that after clicking on the box and accepting and your wifi works.

I don't know if this is how it works on EVERY machine, but the ones that didn't have wifi working after the install worked by doing this.

I hope that helps you out. :)

nice, i just got done installing archlinux my self installing gnome now :)
