Out of curiosity. I have a few projects I'm interested in, it seems there are dozens of vendors on the deb which cna produce somewhat targeted (or so the claim) email leads for cents. Then there are plenty of vendors both on here and on the web which offer this email sending service.

So my question is, has anyone sent 100K + emails out there? I'm assuming you send the traffic to a squeeze page or something, did you receive any opt ins? Was this worth it?

Thanks,
Hitch

There are several factors to consider. Firstly, where do you get the emails from? Do you scrape them from some sketchy website where the emails are worthless, or do you pay people to share their valuable email list?

But from a probability standpoint, you're basically asking: out of a 100k (real) emails, is there a person that would be interested in a specific type of product of service that I'm offering? The odds would say yes. I personally don't say send out 100k emails, but around 500 a day. And I do get opt-ins.

how efficient is it? I mean when u post around 500 mails a day, about how many people visit your site/page?

Bulk Email use to make alot of money before spam can 300m sent aday use to produce 10-15k

Depends on segmenting the demographics, then getting through spam filters. Now under a certain amount isn't going to get any return at all. But if it's very targeted - and I mean by a follow-up, non-generic campaign you make get a CTR, now the ctr will be low if it even gets into the inbox. So then you have to determine the follow-through rate, take note of that, have a tracking system in place for drop outs etc and try again.

What are you trying to flog? Never know if it's a great offer and well researched you may really make it work :D

Thanks for the input everyone. So I'm going to use a MMO offer to a BizOp list

I'll use the same strategy used for solo ads, send a freebie, get to opt in.. on the thank you page of the opt in a decent offer in the $20-$30 range... and I'll follow up with routine emails until they decide to opt out.

I spoke to a couple vendors today, one guarantees deliverables.. and will replace any bounces..no whether or not they get past the spam filter is unknown but they provde software which will allow you to monitor opens and clicks.. said they work with large companies (but most vendors say this...)

For anyone that has done something similar, what are your #'s if you don't mind me asking? I know the numbers will be much smaller for spam vs solos... but i'm curious atleast what the opt in rate after clicks/opens is. Or what's the opt in rate as a percent of total email blast. # of opt in / total blast? 0.01% or smaller?

BTW, for another business I sent about 400/day from a mail merge and MS Outlook.. had a decent response...these were B2B leads. In fact I still run these campaigns but it's much much more targetted.. I'm interested in trying to mail out several hundred thousand which I could never do from my server
