One of my sites got hacked and I asked Just Host for help, this is their response.....

"I'm sorry but we can't restore your website from our backup because your account was excluded due to inodes limit violation.
The use of more than 50,000 inodes on any shared account may potentially result in suspension. Accounts found to be exceeding the 50,000 inode limit will automatically be removed from our backup system to avoid overusage. Every file (a webpage, image file, email, etc) on your account uses
up 1 inode. Sites that slightly exceed our inode limits are unlikely to be suspended; however, accounts that constantly create and delete large numbers
of files on a regular basis, have hundreds of thousands of files, or cause file system damage may be flagged for review and/or suspension.*
Currently your account contains 64496 inodes. Please decrease to 50000 or less."

Great help huh ? I get hacked and they threaten to suspend me.

Why do you have +50k files in your account? From a host admin. It takes too much time to backup big number of small files so they did what keeps their service running at the desired performance level.

I'm sure you will find something about inodes limit in their tos. it is your fault not to read the terms before ordering.

Well, i had almost been hacked too a few weeks ago.

I noticed it in live so i was able to stop it.

But i think there are some justhost responsability, in it.

My account username was leaked into a hack website in a list of thousands of them.

WHile he was trying i used a system to talk with my visitors, the hacker came to the chat telling me that he has my database.

I traced his IP, went into several proxies and he was using a VPS who was located in JustHost too.....

JustHost burried the case, the other guy kept his account and i don't really know if he has time to pick my database or not.

just host sucks., trust me.,

i had their hostings , they were famous for adult websites hosting.,
and after one year or so,

i got their email., that they are going to suspend my account for hosting adult material.,

they didnt even sent me email , after they changed their policies and all of sudden i got email.,

so i moved my files to another host and asked for refund.,

p.s. it was just tgp site so only image files were hosted.,

p.s. they advertised 1st as adult host and all of sudden they go non-adult., c'mon just host sucks ballls., </period>

shared host are famous for out right lying, infinite resources for a $1, than if you go over a "hidden" very low number you get suspend. If at all possible try to get a vps for 15$ a month, you will thank yourself
a million times over.

If you need help with your recovery pm me, I will help you for free
and give you some pointers.

Thanks for the offer but I just deleted the site to help get under their imposed cap. It wasn't a money maker anyway.

If anyone is on justhost, I wouldn't do any autoblogs since you'll use up your "inode" limit.

Why do you have 50k files on an autoblog driven by wordpress? If you use any caching plugin like super cache or similar. Exclude tag pages "/tag/" and you will save tons of inodes/disk space.

I had script overloading my shared plan... i got suspended but i contacted them and told them what happened, i forgot to turn off blog url scraper script haha... was using more than 60% of the server for maybe for half an hour.

But they replied fast and told me that they have re-activated my account so i could go turn that script off :) Using them still and i have no regrets... it has paid itself many times by now.

The 50k limit is your account limit not per domain. The autoblog wasn't nearly that high. Simply adding wordpress to a domain will cost around 1500 inodes.

This is will sound I'm pushing our service but we recently sorted a customers site out that was hacked :) free of charge

I had a client get hacked without a backup, and it's not terribly hard to restore the site manually, even when you didn't build it yourself (I didn't). What did the hacker do?

Tell them that you thought they offered unlimited space including inodes.

when you went to my site it was a blank screen with the initials JJ in the corner. thats all. there were a bunch of extra files in my domain including oWnEd.php or something like that.

Deleting the new files might work. Sometimes hackers are "nice" and leave the original files modified instead of deleted (that's what happened to my client), but add their own code that supersedes yours. In my case, deleting the extra files and changing the original PHP back to what it was was all it took.

Shared hosting, particularly of the "Unlimited Plan" variety sucks.

Host make as more money by having more clients with little to no resource usage, than they do with the big users. It makes sense for them to piss you off enough to move.

All the big ones are pretty shit. Even Dreamhost, who were amazing when they launched the VPS craze many years ago are now naff. And most of the smaller ones are just resellers for the big hosts.

That said, how much shit, hassle and grief would you be prepared to take from a $7 per month client? Personally, I know I'd just tell them where to shove their $7, which is why I refuse to get into the web hosting business.

Man just leave just host, it's getting hacked more than any host.
