Just got a wahtsapp from isntagram, did you know this stealing method?

I receive multiple messages on my big acounts trying to scam, but this one is new. I got a message sent to my phone to request a password change. I may understand it, but then I got a message from "instagram"via whatsapp requesting a password change.
How did the scammer found my number if its not public in the profile? I have 2-sv on my account, any other advice?

Instagram can send message to you on Whatsapp, same company...
But if you don't trust, do it your own traditional way
