I was browsing the internet recently and came across a forum thread with a PR of 2. It ranked #1 for a certain keyword phrase and had three posts. The topic was a very short question and was resolved in 2 posts. It was totally unrelated to my blog, but I figured a nicely placed PR2 backlink couldn't hurt my PR0 blog. So I added a reply that pretty much restated the answer provided by another forum memeber and threw in my backlink under an anchor text totally unrelated to my blog( so that I do not alert administraters. Any idea on how this will affect my blog's PR? Should I expect to see PR1 soon? My blog has about 5 articles, 5 more posts, and a few videos I embeded from Youtube. Nothing else really, very bland and crappy. I do however link to a SMF forum that I created, but unfortunately it recently got like 2,000 different spam posts in a few boards =( and I have 0 true members:confused:

Is this a serious question. One comment backlink is not going to give you PR. It might but it is definitely not something that you should be counting on. Besides, PR is a pretty irrelevant figure unless you are flipping sites.

Check if it's a d0-follow link or not. If not, it won't pass PR. But it's still good to have some no-follow links. It adds to your link diversity.

Also one PR 2 link might be not enough to get you a PR 1. Depends on how strong the PR 2 link is.
Don't focus too much on PR, if you aren't planning to sell links.

Thank you for the kind answer. I just got 2 more backlinks on the same forum, similar situations. All are "do-follow" backlinks. I think i am going to quit while I'm ahead. I have been making my anchor text like "a" or "it" so that I hopefully pass under the radar.

It wont help your serp, as your anchor has nothing to do with your keywords
