Hello everyone, I'm still learning how to use Tumblr because I'm a total novice. Although I've largely used other platforms, I keep hearing that Tumblr still has room to grow its user base and community. I'd like to know what content works best on blogs and how to set them up properly. As I begin, any guidance or firsthand knowledge would be beneficial.

Do you plan on reposting others' content, or is your planned content unique?

Creative posts like art, memes, or personal thoughts work best. But it's quite hard for a newbie without proper plan and unique idea.

Tumblr works best when you mix original posts with reblogs, use niche tags, and engage with similar blogs. Consistency and interaction usually help a lot more than just posting randomly.

From my experience, Tumblr works best with niche content like aesthetics, art, memes, and fandom-related posts. Consistency and engaging with similar blogs helps a lot too.

Best way to start is by reblogging content in your niche and adding your own small posts regularly. It helps you get noticed faster.

Experiment with authentic, visually engaging posts like gifs, photos, and short text updates while consistently tagging your content and customizing your theme so you can build a Tumblr blog that reflects your personality and attracts a community that genuinely resonates with your interests.

All I say is that focus on simple, visually appealing posts like picture sets, GIFs, relatable short texts, or niche-specific content, because those formats naturally attract engagement, and once your blog is set up with a clean theme, clear bio, and consistent posting schedule, you’ll notice that the Tumblr community responds well to creativity, authenticity, and regular interaction.

A mix of reblogging proven content and posting original GIFs or images works best because it keeps your feed active, fresh, and engaging without burning out creativity.
