Just getting into Amazon affiliate marketing need help figureing out some specifics

Hey there everyone, this is probably my first real thread here at BHW only because ive been reading as much as possible about different marketing methods here etc before making any posts. I have dabbled in several different types of affiliate marketing over the past couple years all with little to zero earnings unfortunately. This time around I have decided to go with some amazon affiliate marketing tactics ( specifically tactics from this thread by Mr. Nick Flame EDIT: cant post links sorry guys = / ) but to be honest with you guys I'm still in the dark on a couple of things / want to make sure im doing things correctly so ill give you guys a basic outline of what i have together so far and what i think I'm missing etc.

What i Have so far:

• I did a little bit of keyword research using long tail pro keyword tool and amazons best sellers list, based on the small amount of research i did i was only able to come up with a rather generic keyword that i ended up just going with ( im sure that i could have picked something a little better keyword wise but " best tech 2016" seemed to fit the bill) keyword = best tech 2016
• After the keyword research i chose a domain with the exact keywords i stated above in it and purchased a year of shared hosting from name cheap.com
• Ive got WordPress installed on my hosting and honestly that's as far as i have gotten at this point.

Things that im worried about / questions:

• I have heard alot of mixed information in regards to selecting a WordPress theme, but id really like to stay away from a cookie cutter looking site so im assuming that free themes ( magazine style not e commerce ) with some modifications might work out ok? I was thinking of useing the kingdom woocommerce theme and the plugin I also have access to wordpress robot plugin if anyone is familiar its said to be able to pull stuff off of amazon.
• I really would like to create most of the content in the site myself, I'm not the best writer ever but have access to someone who proof reads professionally and im planning on purchasing dragon naturally speaking to speed things up.
• Would detailed PERSONAL reviews and DETAILED product comparisons drive traffic?

I'm just worried about content at this point guys, before i even apply to amazon affiliates i'd like to have content that's worthwhile i know there is 500000 generic looking sites out there I just strive to be one of the unique, high quality ones that stand out.

Thank you very much for that bit of info Shinock, i will go ahead and apply here in a couple minutes. I just don't want them to take a quick peek at my site and be disgusted by the lack of content on it at the moment = p.

You can use LTP to find the search volumes "Best your product/keyword" "product review" and see what traffic will be like if you rank in top 10. Then work out if you can rank!
