Just found out of something called Batch auctions, what is it?

Just saw an interesting project named CoW protocol, it uses something called batch auctions to find optimal trade settlements. It has way more interesting features but that itself was already pretty impressive. Still, I'd like to get comments from anyone familiar with the project or what that batch auction is. TQ

I use them from more year ago.
You can use limit orders without spending gas fees.
Also, sometimes you earn some extra money in the swaps with them because they technology use something similar to a MEV bot.

I certainly have heard of Cow protocol before but just some days ago, but that was because it had this crazy price spike after it listed. People still talk about the token because it just listed and has earning opportunities still
