Had to post and let you all know what a sucker i've just been! I thought i'd learnt to spot the hard sell from a mile away thanks to bhw but apparently not!
This morning i got an email from a company called more digital asking if i'd be interested in having one of their client's ads placed on my website, as my site is pretty much dead in the water i thought hell ye! they offered £120 for the year (a small text ad) and then directed me to the t&c which were very straightforward. While looking at the site i thought wow these guys could really help give my site a boost, i think i will use them (still no alarm bells ringing), so after 6 or 7 mails going back and forth - the final one was "sorry we cannot find you a matching client at this time"
Gotta say, even then it took a good 5 mins for the penny to finally drop LOL. I don't know if i want to give them a slap or a round of applause!
I'm sure this is old news to most of the regs, but to any of the newbies offering SEO or social media marketing services - go out, find some failing sites and make a bloody killing!

What marketing technique, or marketing scam you fell for? Apart from exchanging emails, you don't say what the scam was.

well they obviously had no intentions of paying for an ad on my site - they knew my site wasn't doing well so wanted me to go look at their site and sign up for their marketing services!
