What if i choose a popular .com domain and see if .co domain is available with the same exact name?

Would i get some traffic from people misspelling .com as .co?

Worth a try?

Of course it is worth a try. But most domain registrars will not allow you to create such domain (due to obvious reasons)

You'll probably get legal action against you

This is called typosquatting.
Used to be very easy and profitable.
Now many things have changed.
Registrars don't let you register the domain, or they do but
take it away afterwards and keep your money,
Businesses take legal action,
Browsers these days help people write the correct domain...
Still worth a try, domains are cheap.

interesting, but i think most of the popular site own. com/.co of their domain ,

It depends but if the target .com is even remotely popular, you will get a legal notice and they will take the domain away from you.

Unless you love reading c&d notices, don't try it.

Sounds like a good idea , but after reading the above comments, I would most likely not do it.
