Just a reminder that anyone can make a LOT of $$

So I just came from a meeting with a great friend that I didn't saw for years, and just showed me his business, one that most of you probably tried (product reviews) but with a total new perspective than we are used to see in BHW.
He looked at it as an actual business, and treated it like one. His business basically is a reviews site, the difference is, he makes +20k euros month just on fckng adsense, on a 1 year website with 5 writers and 3 developers (could be one or two).

He is just now starting to put together affiliate contracts and working on improving conversions ( that are already at 3% to the 'get' button) and seo.

I won't share more of the business, but anyone with enough skills to build a functional website ala hackernews style will be able to do as good as his business or even just on wordpress.

He has around 12k pages and creating around a 250 per month now, most aren't great and have space to grow but a lot of times they rank those shitty pages.

All of this to say what? He had less experience than most of you, started with barely any money (thengot an angel for 50k) he learned to code on the fly, he just treated this as a business from day one and thought big and put the work as good as he knew how.
This next year I can't see how he won't break 1 million euros mark just by getting the affiliates sorted. I can't imagine how much will he make oncd he figures out how to fix some faults or gets on with a mkt campaign or gets more writers or seo in order.

Yeah the end, hope you realise that there are 100k's of euros or dollars ready to be collected just laying in most of your business, maybe try to look at it as a bigger thing than a short stint hustle or a means of subsistence.

Fair point. But my point isn't even on effort, everyone that earns a living is putting in effort so it's a bit redundant.

My point is, this guy (not a friend of a uncle of a cousin of a brother of my neighbour, just a long time childhood friend) is literally doing what a lot of you are and I do think a lot of you have more and better skills than he had or even has today, and yet he is pretty well set to make some good millions these next years while some good able people are wasting time on trying to make 1k month or just mentally capping around that.

I really don't know for sure why I put this here (not selling shit neither I have anything to sell you) I really just thought some would get something from it, at least see the possibilities.

If we keep our eyes open, there are so many new opportunities lying everywhere. Earlier, I used to think that one can make only by having a website in IM but now I know a lot of other methods. Always adding more to the list.

Thank you. I've been losing motivation for some time now. I have a site which I'm currently trying to rank and it's tough enough trying to keep my limited attention span focused on something, for a week I have procrastinated away a lot of hours and just wasn't able to get any work done. Posts and stories like these brings be back though, and I'm grateful for that.

He could very well making that sum 6 months ago. Plus 50k in investment isn't shite. Just made everything grow faster.

I'll keep that in mind.

Oh and by the way, there were a couple of affiliate websites being sold by 20m this last two weeks or so bought from catena media. Apparently making 1.2 million a year.

Then you have those doing performance mkt without affiliates (that I'm still figuring out how do they get clients) that have to be making a couple of millions year too. That consumer influence marketing businesses are still burning my brain with questions.

Don't confuse my stance on this issue, I think you are full of shit.

I personally know people who are very disciplined and conscientious who have done similar with relative simple businesses. If you can do the simple things very well, do them over and over and work 100+ hours a week with no social life for a prolonged period of time = you will be stunned how far you can get

Even a relatively inefficient method like Adsense can make you a living if you work hard and develop a scalable system. He could simply hire someone more experienced or give away some equity to bring a veteran in (or get a mentor) to make alot more money by using more effective monetisation

It is better to aim high and not hit,
than aim low and hit.

AdSense is a great simple way to make money but I'd always be worried about getting banned if that's my sole income.

To me 50k is serious money. But it's a fart in the wind when you are already have your concept proven, traffic and making some money.

Remember, his business is on reviews, mostly tech he is ranking mostly on buyers keywords, he could have asked for 50k just to sharpen some edges and have an edge to get more revenue sources than amazon affiliates.

All of this to say what? 50k is a lot of money to anyone that worked to get it, but it's nothing when you are investing in something worth a couple of millions already, basically a bargain. To be honest i would have asked for more, but this deal was better than if it envolved more money.
