Technically it was a $20 CPA, but I did a few of them in a night and it came to ~$500 or so. best feeling when I woke up the next morning. Then I barely made anything for a couple weeks LOL. But I learned a lot from the experience.

Depends on what you mean. But to take your question literally, it was about 600.00 if I recall correctly, back in 1997. I met up with who is now my present partner who was trying to get a business going designing websites. I knew zero.. nothing... and told her if she would teach me everything she knew, I'd help her get some clients.
We decided to make a partnership of it. I called up an associate, and we built him a website for 1200.00. Back then, what we did, would have cost tens times that if it was someone more advanced as far as reputation and experience. That client is still with us today though.
Then I made a few bucks with a hobby site selling some Amazon books as an affiliate.
Business grew, and then got a position with The Mining Company (now about.com) and made about 500.00 a month from them, writing articles a few times a month for the niche I was in.
But even before that first 600.00, I had a small part time business, and had some guy build me a "web page" - wasn't really a website, more of a couple of pages on the ISP's domain name space. Learned some stuff about newsgroups (anyone remember those??), answered a bunch of questions and made some small deals with people I would never have known, selling a little bit of product with my home based business.
