[Journey] Work harder, to work less.

Thank you.

Yes, I do use WordPress for all my sites - it's just easy and takes me a few hours to throw up these sites. I don't put too much time or emphasis into the design, just get it up and get some content on it.
thanks

Great and inspiring journey this is. Kind of what l am trying to do also, but way too less time to handle my 4 sites, even this way. So much respect to you!

Just one question: what kind of other link building, besides the mentioned Pbn, dus you do (niche edits, guest post...). Also, what is your ratio building links to homepage and posts you try to rank? I try to do 80/20, but might be a bit more agressive maybe?

Thanks for your insights and good luck!

Thank you - it honestly doesn't take an awful lot of my time.

I've done lots of different link building in the past across all the sites. The main one has had PBN, Guest Posts, Edits & Forum Links for diversity for example.

As for ratio, don't really work to a set one. For a while when I launch a new site I pretty much build mostly to the homepage until I can determine which pages are doing best for me, then I'll split out 30-40% to pages that I find overtime as performing well, spreading the links around.

Sorry guys - been pretty slack at updating this journey, barely have time to take a sh..., will provide an update hopefully at the beginning of next month!

On to site #9 and have an extra side project that takes slot 10, but it' slightly different.

Right, suppose it's time for an update.

I've been busy, amongst my day job, adding several sites, ordering content, links & going on holiday.

I also didn't update last month, so sorry about that!

Updates:
  • Reason for the commission drop on the main site: I changed my theme of the main site in September, right at the beginning of the month. I chose a faster and cleaner theme, but sales tanked. I tried several things to fix it, improving on mobile mostly but nothing worked, so mid month I changed it back.
  • I then turned off Ezoic a few days after and since my sales have gone up, but I don't have enough to report on yet, this month should be the teller. I actually hate Ezoic, I think it must be terrible as a user, and I want to prove I'll make more on sales without it.
  • I'm now at my full quota of sites, 10. It wasn't exactly as planned, 9 are Affiliate sites, but one is a JV with a work colleague, he'll be making the products and I'm marketing them, it's e-commerce.
  • JM was an expired domain I bought for around $400
  • HF was an expired domain I bought for around $180
  • I'm going to be putting a lot of focus on GM - it's got the most potential as it's not an affiliate percentage and in a nice niche, so that should be exciting.
  • CW made it's first big sale! It's the one that isn't purely Amazon Aff, and finally got a big sale vs Awin, there's hope yet!

Just to drop in and let you all know, initial signs of the Ezoic turn off tests are extremely positives.

Amazon UK sales so far are around the £317 mark after 7 days, if it continues I'll be looking at £1,403 this month. Now I don't think it will, but got a good feeling I'm on for my best month.

By no means conclusive yet, but will be leaving Ezoic off for a good while.

Sorry for the delay - yet again, I'm pretty poor at updating this journey.

Headlines:
  • Completed most the sites for now, so going to be winding down on content in the coming months
  • My last site, GM is a joint venture & it's an ecomm site, so going to be different to the rest of my journey.
  • I've kept Ezoic off all month

Got another 150k of content on the go this month, which should finish all of the sites to the 100k mark with the exception of #9 which will be half way through. After which, will go back to focusing on site #1 until the portfolio ages.

Good luck with your journey. I will be watching this.

I'm surprised you can manage 10 of your sites by yourself.

Thank you.

It's not too hard really, just keyword research and uploading content - as well as managing the freelancers.

Might in the future choose to sell some - who knows :)

How much have you invested so far in content and links?

How much have you invested so far in content and links?

I have no idea, to be honest.

Each site is almost 100k apart from the first and second that are around probably 500k combined, I'd say I actually wrote half of that myself though.

At a guess then, 650-700k bought content? Between $0.7-1 per 100 words, so max 6.5-7.5k.

Then links, I've been pretty sporadic too, but invested less there, around 2k.

Oh, I'm a month behind, forgot!

Will provide an update later today :)

Again I've been poor at updating this, my apologies! I've got two months to update you on, Nov & Dec.

Headlines:

  • I've only got Site #9 that isn't up to the 100k words, it's about 20k off.
  • I'll be moving more to link building, which I've been doing pretty manually. I've found that I can save loads for only a small amount of work. In December I manually built 12x links across two websites for £325 averaging £27 a link. Average DR of 56. I've been using @jefis guest post list service to make the process a lot quicker.
  • I've yet again had an internal argument with myself and turned Ezoic back on for December.... god knows if I'll turn it off again.
  • From about Dec 15th onwards, my Amazon commission died, honestly thought I was on for my best month. Hopefully, it's just xmas and it recovers.

Sorry if i missed but what the content is about?
Is it about the product (to which you throw in the affiliate link) ?

I understand that its a website with wordpress.
Now what?
You just start writing about product and throwing aff links all around? Under images, specific words etc.?

I always wanted to make such site but just dont have any idea what to write.
I understand that it must be quality content? Not just random rubbish / rotated article with aff links?
If we take one Website, is this one website about 1 niche only?
website 2 is about another niche etc?
Or any website can contain anything?

It depends on the website, they are all in different niches.

I write articles, a mix of info, buyers guides and individual product reviews.

Buyers guides being - "Top 10 Best x" style
Reviews - "x product reviews - Is it worth it?! style

The biggest recommendation I can give is to get researching, find websites that do this successfully and replicate what they are doing. Just get started and you'll find your way, at first you'll need to go mostly for low hanging fruit and easy to rank for keywords, which you can do using ahrefs - find a site in a similar niche, writing affiliate style content, with a low DR & rewrite their highest traffic driving pages, but better.

Eventually, you'll refine it.

You're follow up questions:

  1. Yes the content is decent quality, but not top tier - articles range from 1k to 10k in words.
  2. No, multiple websites in multiple niches - but each website has its own niche
  3. Yes
  4. No, again, each website is about a single niche

Can you guide me too , I have some investment money , can you guide me how to monetize my web upon Ezoic !
