    Hello.

I can't say I have a really gameplan yet. But I at least have something to attempt.

My goal: $40 by internet bill date, so I don't drop back into the stone age

So... my biggest asset is my programming skill. Been at it a good 8 years, and while I still have a lot of learning to do,
I think I can accomplish the creation of tools users will find useful.

I am also interested in some of the other normal money making things I've read about on BHW, but I will do those when not programming.
Coding is pretty stressful at times, and will demand a lot of time in of itself.

Programs I develop will be somewhat limited. I can't spend 6 months on the initial development, but I don't want to release anything useless or
    just out right trash.

I plan to release all my software for free, and to eventually compete with the big time paid applications in terms of quality and functionality.
I figure, the ability to receive donations, possibly with mild nags and no adware of any kind could at least get me earning bits here and there.
Is linking my programs on a blog or something similar that passes through a url I earn with (ad.fly, etc) an acceptable action?
I figure, its easy to do and could earn more pennies.

On top of that, I'll create youtube guides on my programs once I feel they've reached an acceptable level of quality. VLC = best free screen recorder
I've already got a partnered account, which has earned me $5 a month for a couple now. I have $30 in there, if I reach $100 I can get paid. My youtube cpa has been pretty darn good to me considering my low views.
Do videos on black hat programs run risk of getting my youtube account terminated?

All my software will be written in Java, which exception of non-java libraries I may need to use. Only time I ever did that was Lua when
writing my game engine ahah. But I like java, and hopefully it will be a good choice for users across different operating systems.
I can hop into linux to test, but not mac, and well macs suck anyway. You guys can take your 1 mouse button and report any errors to me,
    I'll blindly help :p

Also, I was given like 2m gold on some random wow private server, so I'll guess i'll see if it is still there, and try to sell it on ebay or something.
The donator most likely recovered it via gm, but ya never know.

    Well that's enough chatting.

Currently developing a proxy scraper + checker.
I've spent the last few days roughing out a gui and the basic functionality.

At the current stage, it accepts newline or csv input, and will rip ip addresses from that.
It then exports that to a json file. You'll find I love JSON very much.

It additionally will emulate a browser via HtmlUnit so that sites which only list content or partial content through javascript can be parsed as well.
Once I got this working, I was quite happy.

    planned features:
I need to bring my gui up to date with my code, which currently functions as a command line utility. Optional command line usage will remain intact
    test proxies for validity
test each proxy against a known port list or range
check for ranking/blacklisting/whatever in order to sort proxies that will not work on high profile sites
Allow for json object input lists which specify various actions. e.g Don't emulate browser, Custom regex per site, ssl-only proxies, etc
->This improves the overall flexibility of the program, and Gson allows for very easy input parsing too. Stupid easy in fact.
Allow running the scan in multiple threads.
    This list will grow

Tomorrow I will write the portion of code which checks if proxy servers are A online, B Functional, and look into how I can determine their google blacklisting status, depending on how much time the other stuff takes.

I'm not sure how or if I can make my $40 goal doing this stuff, but I can at least finish my scraper in time as something for the community.

Any input or criticism is welcome!

HOnest criticism? Stay focused and have a proper plan . Do you want to finish the program or make that $40. You sound very confused. Stick to something and keep working on it and you will earn your money in time. Good luck with that!

Just a suggestion. If you have 8 years experience in writing Java, you could probably make that $40 back in a just a few days at http://www.justanswer.com. I paid more than that for help writing a C program a few months ago.

    Good luck to you

I think you need a more solid plan. It sounds a bit confusing :)

But either way good luck with your journey! :)
