Hey guys in my intro thread I mentioned that I failed a ebook. I'm going to go ahead and try it again. Last time I half assed it and really messed up the formatting. This time I got a partner/friend to do the proper formatting and to make it look all professional in exchange for 15% of the revenues. So I've got three projects going on. The first one is pretty much done. The ebook is in the comedy/entertainment niche that I did with a partner. We are doing a parody of a famous piece of literature. I'm getting 40% of the revenue and my partner is getting 60% because he wrote half the content + reformatted to make it look pretty + going to publish it under his name + will spend money to do the necessary marketing. I've already told him what the marketing campaign will look like. It's going to be a combination of a targeted FB campaign, word of mouth, making it free for 5 days under KDP and offering youtube channels to review the book in exchange for commissions. We've already gave a sample of the book to 10 people from diverse backgrounds to review it and it looks like it's quite a hit. So I'm thinking this is something reasonable to pursue. The amount of time/money we are spending is small compared to the rewards. So I want to pursue this bet. Second project is something that I'm working on right now. It's in the health niche and I found a bunch of keywords that are really low competition with decent enough search volume. I collected a bunch of long tail keywords and together they sum up to be 17k search volume a month. My plan is to publish the ebook on amazon and use the page as a parasite. I'll make a long description with those keywords in place and do a fiverr link blast on the amazon page. Turns out blasting parasite pages with spammy links actually works out great. I'm interested to see if it actually works as I've seen other people do it with success. Then I'll create a FB fan page with the keywords that I want to rank for and link it back to the amazon page. I'll fiverr link blast the facebook page as well. I think this idea that I have is unique and has a reasonable chance to succeed compared to the time and effort I'm spending. There is no content written on this topic on amazon. And I think there is a good chance that people would be interested in the info because I see people desperate searching for information based on the keywords that I looked for. I foresee two types of buyers that will buy the ebook - curious readers and people who want the information. Going to make it free for 5 days to accumulate free downloads. I'll go with the youtube channel route to promote the ebook. A combination of these factors will probably generate money. The third project is something much more long term as it's something that I'm going to put my heart and soul into. It's a sci fi novel and I have a unique plot in mind. Shared it with a couple of friends and it wowed them. Then I wrote the introduction to the book and now it's on my to do list. There's going to be slow progress on this because it's going to require significant time and planning to write a damn novel. I don't want it to be bad either. This is my baby One of the reasons why I'm interested in getting ebooks published is the amazing money that you can make. Once you got a book published and the marketing done right you can sit back and collect money. You guys should definitely consider going this route. So I posted this thread to motivate me and maybe you guys can learn something from me/or get some advice/insight so I don't mess up. It's to hold me accountable so I don't give up on my work. Wish me luck!
