Journey to $1k/month Selling Websites

Hello BHW,

I have recently found myself in a bad financial situation and had to sell off many of my domains and websites for lower prices than I wanted to. I found out that I kind of like selling websites, and so I thought about flipping websites for a long time now. I have all the skills required to build a great website within 1-2 days. Basically, I will be creating WordPress websites with 10 high quality posts written by me, a native English speaker. I have come up with a solid plan to make about $1k a month building and selling websites. I plan on recruiting a team of people to help me expand and make even more $$$ so this will be a fun journey for sure.

I can create logos, design websites, code websites, write and do SEO. I have great social media skills and really know how to build a following. I don't know how much social media I will incorporate in this journey, but we will see.

I will be buying EMD's and other great domains, installing WP, customizing a theme with unique logo, and then finally posting a lot of great content,. In some cases, I will create a completely unique WP theme, but not for the sites that I will selling for cheap. Also, I will be using an SEO plugin to optimize every post on the site. I have already sold about 12 websites in the past month and it has helped me out a lot financially. Hopefully, I can make this happen and exceed $1k/month

Each site will sell anywhere from $20-$50, and I will be setting up 2-3 a day. I truly think I am selling sites with potential, as the content I provide the buyer with is very high quality. So, when I come up with my team of people with similar skills as me, I will make sure they create websites with the same high quality if not greater. I'm all about quality, but I know it's very hard to sell a website for more than $50 if its brand new.

This log is to keep me motivated, as it seems to work for many people.

I have 5 domains ready so I can start making some websites. I won't say the domain, but here is my to-do list with due dates.

• Pet Niche - July 16
• Pet Niche - July 16
• Travel Niche- July 16
• Gaming Niche- July 16
• Astral Projection Niche- July 16

Since I have a bunch of college work due over the weekend I can't focus on building the websites as much as I'd like to. But, this will be a good start and then my goal is to create at least 2 websites per day, 5 days a week. Over time I will increase the amount I create, and find a partner to work with me as needed. Eventually, building a team as mentioned above. I will start one 'large project' on the side as I sell these quick startup sites. The large project is something that will hopefully make me a couple hundred bucks, or even thousands in the future.

This is because I need instant cash, yet I want to gaurantee a raise in the future, ya know?

Good luck with it - sounds like you are organized and you know what you're doing.

Just one suggestion - would it not be worth keeping just one site each week for yourself and working on monetizing it?

That way you are generating the immediate cash you need but also building up a residual income for the future.

Keeping one a week for myself sounds like a good idea to me. I'll definitely include that into my plan, thanks for bringing it up.

where do you sell your sites ?

No worries.

Even if you averaged just $2 per day from those sites, at the end of the year you have $3K per month

If you are writing high quality content and you say you will provide 10 such articles written by yourself and then sell the site for 20-50$ isnt that undervaluing the site a bit? The content alone is atleast worth $50. I think you'd better off selling the sites at 80-100$ a pop. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's a very low rate for $50. Content alone worth about $50.If you sold on Flippa, there will be fee including initial fee, too.Even if you could do everything yourself, it's not worth the time and effort.Anyways, you have a solid plan, good luck with the journey.

You're right Chintoo! I will increase the prices of my websites to no less than $50. I guess I didn't mind because I can still get the websites completed fairly quickly. Also, I generally pick a niche or even micro niche that I'm interested in OR know a lot about, so its easy to write. Of course, this can't be the case 100% of the time, and I'm sure some sites will take longer. Regardless, I need to increase the price. The nearly instant sales from low-priced sites are addicting though!!

I believe time management is one of the most important factors if one wishes to become successful. I'm very organized, and for some reason, I can setup websites really fast. Maybe its because I've done it so many times for my own personal projects over the years, idk.

I can understand why they sell instantly. If I saw a great site with 10 quality articles ready to rock, I'd buy it asap. But I'm pretty sure even if you price them at 80-100$ they'll sell fairly quickly. Even if you setup one site a day, that means 100$/day and 3k$/month.

So you make 3x of what you aimed for

Popular online marketing forums, after I have built up a reputation. I think its important that people can trust the person they are purchasing a website from. Many people lie about stats and earnings, and I always do my best to show that I'm an honest guy. I like to participate and add to the communities I sell these sites in.

However, I'm considering Flippa and other marketplaces, just not right now.

Nice concept, what if you have a larger website where you can list your sites on?
Also, why not hold them for a few month (2 or 3 months) when they start generating around $50 to $100+ per month, you can sell them for a better price?

Quick update:

Yesterday I finished up a web design project and sold a website, today I will be building a few websites to sell. I have a large writing project due soon so I might spend some time on that too, but mainly I will be building websites and hopefully posting them for sale by tonight or tomorrow. Also, I have a couple websites that I will build and keep for a few months before selling. For the sites that I sell right away, I want to make sure I'm at least making $15/hour, so I will be timing how long it takes for me to create each website. In my next post I'll go over how many sites I've sold, how much I've made, and how long it took to build the sites I've sold.

Also, I'll start logging my long-term projects, as I have a few I plan on starting... I've never made a thread like this before, but its already motivating me to prove myself and go through with my plan. Thanks for all the recommendations!

So far this month I've only pulled in about $200, so I still have about $800 to go to reach my goal this month. However, I'm 100% confident that I can reach my goal this month so I am not worried about the bad start.

Anyways, here's what I'm doing now and what I've been doing:

I looked through all the domains I own and picked 10 to start with, instead of the 5 mentioned earlier. 10 sites for 100 each is 1000. If I can get these done and sold in a week and a half, then I might be able to make even more. Not sure if I have the time for that, but we will see. I'm installing WordPress on the 10 sites, creating the logos and writing the content. About 10 articles for each site.

I have a couple sites that are almost finished, so I think getting all 10 done in a week and a half is reasonable for me. Haven't installed a timer program yet, will look into that later today its on my to-do list. I'm curious to see how long it takes me to build one of these websites...

Long-term project update:
My long-term project is going to be a website related to flipping sites, internet marketing, and all that good stuff. The domain I have for it is perfect, very brandable. Not exactly sure about what content will be posted and who the audience will be yet, just starting to gather ideas now. I know I will want to partner with some people who can provide me with quality guest posts once I get the site up. After this $1k/month journey I will start another thread specifically for that project. For now, I will just give some brief updates, as it won't be earning anything for awhile.

Just posted a few more websites for sale today, ranging from $80 - $250 a sale. Hopefully they will sell quick like my other ones have in the past, as I need some $$ right now. I haven't made a dime since my last update (besides selling stuff from CL), so I'm going to be up all night building some more sites to sell. Going to post about 5 more sites on the site I'm currently posting them to, and then start posting on another site to see how it goes.

As for the long-term project of mine - I've created a solid plan for the website and will go through with it next week when I get some cash to pay my bills. I feel like an idiot wasting my time on a long-term project when I need more food in the fridge now.

When I post again hopefully I will be $400+ richer
