Journey to $1000/month

Hello everyone,

I decided to make an account on this forums, so that I could use this place as a support structure. Never really in my life have I conciously tried having a support column, as I always do everything alone. And although I was slightly successful with that (with a good 9-5 job), I am now starting to believe I'm handicapping myself. So I hope having this thread will show me something I have yet to learn, and I just realized while writing this that I'm banking on people helping me when there is no guarantee such a thing will occur xD. I promise to give back if I become successful. But that's just something I want to do anyways (giving back).

I held off starting a journey thread because I didn't know squat about IM when I first decided to get involved with it about four weeks ago. And I also had to finish a bot I was writing. But I have a direction now after much reading and some basic experimentation. I also now have an idea of what goals I should attempt to reach. So let me go ahead and lay those out:

Goal 1: make $1

Goal 2: make $10

Goal 3: make $100

Goal 4: make $1000/month

Time: Goal 3 will be reached two months from today, and goal 4 will be reached three months after goal 3 is reached.

Means: Goals 1, 2, and 3 will be reached using blogs that target niches that I find through all the means I've learned and other means I learn as the time passes. I'm going to start off using PPD and YT, but I will also fancy a newly found word for me called PPI. I'm a programmer by trade so PPI is something I can probably make good use of. My strategy will pretty much be the same as Kinlee's. Find niche, make landing page on blogger, make video, make good SEO on blogger, pray someone is loving enough to go through and download what they want. I won't be purchasing anything tools, hosting, or whatever until I achieve goal 3.

Currently I have three blogs started and only one has started to receive a few hits from YT. It's such a small niche though that even though the video made it to the first page on YT today for the keyword I'm targeting, I don't think I will get much traffic if it reached top 3. And even worse I realized today that my landing pages absolutely suck. I thought making one was as simple as putting whatever the person wanted behind a file locker and that was it, but I now think it really needs to grab their attention. I hope I can use a css framework on blogger sites so I can make it look pretty and way better alluring. Also, none of the blogs are ranking on google. I don't think at all.


Question, on Kinlee's thread she was writing "articles" for her landing page sites. Did she like, write posts or pages for her article? That is really confusing me. Do people make blog posts on their landing page website with internal links to the landing page to hopefully increase its rank?

Good luck! I'm on the same journey, its difficult, I have no idea how to find profitable niches, and I suck at making landing pages, if anybody could show us an example of a good landing page, that would be great! thanks.

Thank you guys for the replies. All of them are really encouraging. I'm really really glad I made this thread already. Just knowing that people will see these posts drives me to move on. I don't want to show up empty handed when I make posts to this thread.

I learned a new way of generating huge lists of keywords. Although it takes a bit of time to create, I'm able to come up with huge amounts of keywords. For a particular niche I was testing this on I got up to 57k keywords to search for. This to me is progress. That's +1 to keyword research on my skill tree LOL. Merge words gets like 50% of the credit for this. So thank you merge words.

I have an adult blog that is getting small traffic and I can see myself scaling up that traffic if I keep doing what I'm doing now. I'm just not sure how to monetize on it. CPA's dont allow adult stuff, so I'll need to see if I can make something of this. I spent an hour or two trying to figure monetization and how adult stuff works, but it was a bit frustrating. Also, I did find a niche that has no competition but the supply is extremely low. I'm going to make a blog and try to provide high quality content for this niche because it's actually something I am skilled at. And from now until I sleep I'm going to finish Think and Grow Rich. This will be my bible until I make it.

Tomorrow will be: 1) learn more about adult monetization 2) set up blog, prepare material to write, and write two full articles 3) if time permits, niche research

What method do you use to research/find keywords?

Go for it! I highly recommend reading Think and Grow Rich. In that book it gives you way very good ways to define your goals.

I use a little bit of the technique found in $100 a day adsense journey by Bluematter and then mix it up with some mergewords =] I would give you links but BHW is complaining I'm still to noob to post links in my posts. Maybe later in thread hm?

OK. I worked like a freaking Korean today. I woke up early and worked like 12+ hours. And the crazy part is I didn't even finish all my goals for the day! I am providing high quality content with the things I'm doing, and it eats up a lot of time to do things like that. So here's what I got done:

- I learned more about the adult content providing, but not much about monetization. I am providing MUCH better quality then what I had before. I'm also getting followers on the twitter account I created for this niche. So those are very good signs for me. So that makes: a video on the first page in YT, a SLOWLY growing twitter, a much better looking blog with very high quality content, and a method for attracting the right people on twitter that is working so far. The progress on this niche is real which is all I need to care about.

- Created a new blog for another niche and posted one article. It's a very high quality article and it leads perfectly into 3 or 4 more posts. All that is left is a twitter for this niche and some YT videos.

- Spent some time on a bot I'm working on with my partner.

So tomorrow is another day of Korean work. Here's what I'm looking to do:

1) Continue to research adult monetization and scale up the adult niche.
2) Finish the second post for the new blog, create twitter, and YT channel
3) finish on the bot piece I'm working on
4) research new niches
5) work on SEO for adult niche.


Even though I learned today that I'm awful at estimating times I'm still pushing to get much done for tomorrow. All that matters is progress though. Even if I don't finish everything, as long as I progress I'm in the green.

Woke up mad early today despite having stayed up so long yesterday. I did nap sometime in the middle of the day though. It cut into my work time =( I need to write a python script for collecting the number of cups of water I drink per day. I was super dizzy when waking up from the nap and I think it was because I was dehyrdated. Some good news is that time keeps flying by while I work which must mean I'm having fun! Reminds me of my gaming days. This is exactly how I want it.

Here's what I got done today:

- got my adult niche twitter suspended for aggressive following. Looks like my twitter method needs some fine-tuning.
- Finished the second article for my new niche.
- Updated the adult niche with content and found some more videos to put on YT for getting traffic to the blog.
- Created a twitter for the new niche and got a few followers on it.
- Found some new potential niches. Have to do research on them.
- Made a bit of progress on the scraper bot.


Tomorrow is Saturday and I probably shouldn't push myself to hard on work, so I'll do only a few hours of work... Maybe. We will see. Things that spilled over from todo list: still have to learn more fully about adult traffic monetization, work on SEO on the adult niche, and finish the bot piece I'm working on. So goals for tomorrow are as follows.

- Finish the bot piece
- work on SEO for adult niche
- learn about adult traffic monetization

I've made progress. I'm glad I am able to write that. Acknowledging it to myself is helpful as hell haha. That's what it's all about. Making progress. Right?

I have to say, thank you everyone for your kind posts. So far I've received nothing but positive messages and I am really grateful for that. This sub-forum really creates a positive environment for success. I need to go around and start telling other people they can do it too =)

I didn't get much done today. Some things out of my control occured, so all the goals are moved onto tomorrow. I don't expect to get much done tomorrow too. Even though I am not Christian, I become one on Sundays. Tomorrow is a day of no fucks.

Let me write a list of what I did do today for the record though:

- progress on the bot
- update adult niche content & ask twitter for my account to be resumed since its suspended
- watch 80% of a movie

So yesterday, Sunday, I didn't get much done. I had written a post yesterday, but I didn't submit it. What I got done yesterday was:

- got my adult niche banned
- created fb fan page for the new niche. got a few likes going

I woke up today and the adult niche was unbanned though. So no need to worry about bans in the future. Have to learn to set aside that emotion. Things happen.

Goals for today:
- Do my SEO research + application on the adult niche.
- Find more videos to post on YT and boost them.

Income is at zero. Still haven't reached the milestone from the first post.

Didn't get much done today. I need to set myself a proper schedule to follow for the day. Some things are a bit unorganized. While doing all this I am also programming and it is a little hard to manage the time. So lets see. I did do the SEO research today, but I wasn't able to apply it to the niche (which got unbanned. hurray!) When I do a content update tomorrow, I will apply SEO all over that site. I am also going to try exoclick on the blog. Not sure how it works, but I will see.

Goals for tomorrow. And I'll work on them in this order:

- boost YT video related to adult niche
-Sign up on exoclick for the blog
- apply SEO all over adult niche
- research new niche I found today
- finish the scraper im working on
- make new videos for adult niche. I did find two vids to splice. Anyone know any good linux software for video editing? Ill obv search for some, but if anyone can recommend, I'd really appreciate!
