Welcome to my journey!

As a long time lurker of the forum who was too lazy to ever take action, I'm finally starting my first journey.

I see a lot of journeys being unfinished due to unrealistic goals right off the bat, so I tried to set a realistic goal for myself in this journey.

If I manage to meet my goal, I believe I will be continuing the journey with another thread!

Some backstory about me, hopefully helpful for those who are in a similar situation and can somewhat relate :) . I'm 26 years old, been working full-time as a JS developer for the past 2 years, and chasing the odd freelance job every now and then. Bulk of my experience is in React and React Native, which is why I will be using RN to develop applications for this journey.

My purpose is to build some side income to complement my current salary, and eventually quit my job to make this my main stream of income. I live a country where the economy is pretty bad, which makes it quite soul crushing to have a full-time job that basically pays peanuts.

For now, I will strictly be deploying apps for Android, as I don't really want to commit to buying an iOS developer license, and I really hate working in the Apple ecosystem.

That being said, I have a decent amount of experience in deploying apps on iOS as well, and coding on RN really minimizes the time I have to spend on the Apple ecosystem, which definitely makes it a possibility for me to explore the iOS side of things later on.

I've been working on an app which is very simple and also in a quite competitive niche for the past 2 days, hopefully will be able to finish it during the week.

I haven't put a lot of effort into finding a low competition niche for my first app, which I would also say is my weakest point going into this journey. Been reading up on ASO and all that, so I will be testing the waters and see how it goes.

I'm open to any questions or advice you might have for me. Please post in the thread instead of DMing me, so that everyone can participate :)

First update :)

Published the app on Play Store, waiting for the review process to be over.

Will be researching a niche for my next app now, hopefully something less competitive.

Hoping to conclude research by weekend, so that I can bootcamp during the weekend and get a good chunk of the application finished.

Im following this journey, i love to code but is not profitable without marketing :(

Maybe you can prove im wrong, Good luck!

Yeah, I also really enjoy coding but unfortunately I don't have enough freelance work to fill my time with coding :/

I've read some journeys about making money with mobile apps on here which did pretty well, so decided to try it for myself since I already have coding knowledge.

I was particularly inspired by @Mobime's journey, you should also check that out for some inspiration if you haven't seen it :)

Update time :)

First app is finally published on Google Play, but it's not indexed yet it seems. No idea how long that's gonna take, guess we will have to wait and see.

Been slacking a bit, so couldn't start on the second app over the weekend, but at least I managed to find a few niches that I would like to try.

Will be working on the second app (hopefully) during this week.

If you want to see your app start to rank for keywords, even the app name itself..you need to get downloads going. That means start promoting it to bloggers, twitter, IG, youtube, IG influencers, ad campaigns, give aways etc etc.
