I have started this website with a friend of mine back in 2018. He was supposed to write the content, I was supposed to do the SEO.

The niche is tech/mobile phones.

We published a good amount of short articles but they wasn't ranking at all. Even after 2 years.

I was testing many strategies on that site but mostly cheap strategies. I wanted to see if some of the rankings will move to invest $$$ in it.
I was creating manual profile links, web2.0s, wikis, few guest posts, crappy niche edits, comments etc..

We made some money from selling guest posts and that's the only money we made.

Nothing was working and I have consulted with some members from BHW and all said the same...

The content was purely commercial.

Our intention wasn't like that. The articles were all "best of" type but the typical ones. Our articles were "best apps for running" type of articles. No affiliate at all.

Okay so, before a couple of months we started pumping informative content and site started showing signs of life.
I decided to rename all "Best of" posts into normal ones: "apps for running" only and I have changed the permalink because anyway they didn't even get impressions.

Current stats:

Right now the plan is to pump more informative content and add more lengthy content. The posts which are being published now are ranging from 500 to 1000 words only.
Also, I'm planning to buy power links. Mostly niche edits and guest posts.

Let's see how this goes.

The stats look great tbh. My first website was in the mobile apps niche (mobile video games <3). Is your friend still writing content or are you going solo this time?

You already got traction, just need to push and scale.
Best of luck op

What's your process for keyword research?

Curious how much you made in total from guest posts at that time.

Good luck with your journey! I think there's lots of potential here.

We are still both in this, we are trying to manage the site 50/50 but I'm doing the SEO part.

I'm using Ahrefs and KeywordsEverywhere only.

Checking the competitors and related websites which keywords are they ranking on. Filter the KD to max. 15 or 5 and then manually check the chosen keywords on Google.

Honestly don't know exactly but around $500-1000, really not a lot.
