[Journey] Ranking A Site That Uses AI Generated Content

Site Update - 6000 Pageviews in 30 Days

The growth of the site slowed down a bit after getting to 5000 page views. There are a couple of mass generated automated sites that are answering every question under the sun. They took away some of my traffic.

I might have to build some links to grow the site faster.

Out of 43 keywords that I'm tracking, 39 are on page 1. I lost a lot of Top 3 positions and now have only 2 keywords that are in the Top 3.

Here are the traffic screenshots:

AI content is still ranking fine. Although it's very easy to detect, Google isn't penalizing it yet.

If you're planning to use AI for content, it's best to make a lot of different low effort/low content sites and make money while it lasts. With just 10-12 hours of work, you can easily make a site that makes money.
Made on expired domain or fresh? Link building on every post?

from the start, did you let the articles get index naturally or did you use some Api or other method to force index the articles?

I let them index naturally. I know that people have been facing some indexing issues recently but when I started almost a year ago, it wasn‘t an issue.

Crossed 16000 pageviews. I've started adding more content to this site.

I'll add around 100-150 articles over the next couple of months. I'll aim for longer articles (500-1000 words) just to improve the revenue per page.

Thanks a lot. 200 posts in total right now. 1.12 pageviews per visitor.
Thanks for sharing! I have a very weird situation with my main website where I can't tell how many visitors I actually have...

So Cloudflare tells me I have:
1645788505822.png
In the last 30 days.

Analytics shows:
1645788572780.png
For the past 30 days... (Big difference right?)

According to Analytics I should have an average of:
8702/30 = 290 Users per day.

Pageviews seems off, no way each visitor checks 2 pages per visitor, my website isn't designed that way, just seems way too fishy imo.

Then Google Console says I get:
1645788671940.png
21.6k Clicks in the exact same timeframe, that's more than 2x the traffic that Analytics reports...

It should be 21600/30 = 720 Users per day

Amazon Clicks for the last 30 days:
1645788752904.png
Which again, is quite a bit more than Analytics reports in terms of Users, no chance everyone clicks links every single time + not all my articles have affiliate links..

And lastly:
Ezoic shows 700-800 Daily Views on Ads on my website.

Overall, I don't know what is right, what is wrong, exactly how much traffic I have, it's weird, especially since there's such a big discrepancy between Analytics and other statistics, hell, even the users/pageviews ratio seems super off in Analytics.

Have you ever experienced this in any of your websites?

Probably something wrong with analytics other metrics seem fine. EZOIC and search console are always lower, analytics also lower compared to cloudflare by 10 to 20%. Ur ctr on Amazon is quite good arround 20%

Yea that's what I think too, issue is I don't know what's causing this problem with analytics, and I need it to track everything properly because I want to apply to other ads networks eventually and they always go by analytics visits

I'm not 100% sure, but Cloudflare probably counts some crawling bots which visit your website while Google Analytics doesn't.

Yeah this is very strange. I’ve never experienced it.

Do you think it could be some sort of cache malfunction? Could it be that the analytics code is cached for some pages and not for the rest?

If this site is on Ezoic, then maybe there’s a conflict between your host’s cache and Ezoic’s cache.

Ezoic’s caching system is quite buggy so this is the first thing that came to my mind. It’s just a guess. I could be totally wrong.

I'm having something very similar as well. GSC shows 2x the traffic that analytics show.

Pictures contain the same timeframe.

I'm actually seeing this across almost all the sites I own.

I haven’t done any major link building. Just some directory submissions for 5 bucks.
Sweet post, tried to read all 30 pages...

You mentioned you did some linkbuilding, do you intend to do better linkbuilding or this is just a throw away site so no point investing money into it?

Im not sure if I’ll build more links. I may build a couple of them if I feel I need them.

Low comp keywords don’t need links. Some of the recent posts I’ve published have ranked on page 1 on publishing.

If I see that a page has good EPMV and needs a boost, I’m open to getting a couple of guest posts. But most of the pages should rank without links.

I've followed your thread for quite a while now and I want to point out that you're working very smart.

Around half a year ago I created the first website for the only purposing of blogging, and wrote around 50 articles, all of them 800-2000 words with images, etc. After they aged a bit, I found out that just 10-20% of them brought most of the traffic.

Now, for new keywords I will work like you did: Write 100-300 words max. focusing on answering the question.

The incredibly smart thing about this is, we can cover a lot more keywords in a shorter period of time, and when a very short article shows up (high) in the serps it's a good indicator that it's rankable. When it does we can add more content later on. The ones that don't show up at all, don't have high priority though.

This might not be a technical thing like keyword research, backlinks, on-page, etc. but strategically this is something I wish I would have done right from the beginning.

Gold information right there!

Do you write an intro paragraph with Conversion.ai and then another one answering the question? Or do you go straight into the paragraph answering the question?
Be careful with thin content that doesn't satisfy user intent. I have been slapped before for this by Google.

I also target no/low comp question keywords for an info website of mine.

It's a winning strategy imo.

The AI content writers always slowed me down. I'll have to give it a try again to see if they work better.
