Journey on YouTube

Background
Now that IG botting is all but dead, I've sold off all my accounts and going to start something fresh on YouTube. I haven't had an active channel on YouTube since the good ol' days back in 2010/2011 when getting millions of views with shitty gaming videos was piss easy. These days it's a lot harder to get views and even harder to get monitized.

My Plan/Targets
- Create a YouTube Channel in my niche
- Create social media accounts / sign up to forums
- Upload x4 videos per week (original content with commentary)
- Promote on social media/forums/Reddit/YouTube ads
- Acheive monetisation (1000 subs / 4000 watch hours)
- Identify and promote sponsors/affiliates
- Setup a Patreon

What I have done so far
- Created my channel
- Hired a graphics designer to create my channel art
- Setup social media accounts
- Identified various forums related to my niche and signed up
- Identified several sources of information related to my niche for video ideas
- Drafted scripts for 7 vidoes
- Recorded Audio for my first video and edited
* Currently in the process of editing my first video

Challenges I expect to face
- Motivation: YouTube always starts off slow so I expect it will take some patience. Luckily for me I have vast amounts of free time on my hands and im not in any urgent need for money.

- Copyright: I worry that I may run into copyright issues with YouTube as although my content is all original I'll be using clips and pics from TV Shows/Movies. I've noticed otherother channels in my niche with similar vidoes and they seem to be running ads so hopefully it won't be an issue.

- Inexperience: I've run successful YouTube channels in the past and I've made a lot of money in the process however YouTube is a different world these days so I do worry about fucking up and not knowing how to repair the damage etc..

Anyways that's about it from me for now. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I'll try to update this a couple of times a week

Regarding the copyright: I've read somewhere that there is a % amount for 'your / not your' content ratio. Maybe looking this up will help you.

Go hard on SEO, copy top ranking competitor tags, buy views, comments and subs, optimize your channel so it passes authority to your vids, buy an aged channel and work hard to optimize to popup as relevant video on top vids. That's my 2 cents

I appreciate the advice mate, I'll be staying away from buying views though. Seems like all the SMM panels are down and I don't want to risk a ban when I'm putting a lot of work into the content. I'm going to experiment with YouTube ads and see if it's worth the money. Will post my results in this thread.

I'll be going with AdSense and avoiding networks like the plague

Though currently I am not monetising with anything as it's a new channel so haven't met the requirements just yet. I am not expecting to make a great amount from ads in all fairness, I expect most of my revenue will come from affiliates and eventually patreon (hopefully)

Quick update: Finished editing my first video, waiting for graphic designer to finish my channel art/logo so I can upload it. Going to create a thumbnail for now while I wait.

The biggest concert here is copyright, you are right.
Be careful with that, I've seen many situations when people lost channels because of multiple strikes.

Yeah I agree it's what I am worried about the most. Im using a lot of clips from TV shows, hoping that my voice commentary and editing is enough to cover me under fair use.

Also I heard that adding some extra copyright info in description helps to prevent strikes.
Try to watch similar channels, most of them add something like:
No copyright is claimed in this video and to the extent that material may appear to be infringed, I assert that such alleged infringement is permissible under fair use principles in U.S. copyright laws. If you believe material has been used in an unauthorized manner, please contact the poster.

QUICK UPDATE: Channel is all set to go. First video to go up tonight. I've started posting on the forum accounts to get my post counts up.

Will update again tomorrow, let's see how this first video goes.

Interesting discussion. I am interested particularly with the monetizing of this media though as there are already a lot of contents on Youtube. How are your views so far?

Thanks a lot. Not tutorial vidoes, more like informational videos around my niche.

Yes, I am using my own voice. Using a music track in the background on really low. Original music, mostly acoustic guitar (I write my own music as a hobby)

In terms of monetisation, I'm not overly concerned with it right now. For now my main objective is to get videos up and plenty of them. I can worry about monetisation later, because as long as I am getting views I can make money.

QUICK UPDATE: First video has been up 24 hours and I've posted it to a couple of Facebook groups. Sitting on 96 views, which isn't too bad. The good news is that as of yet, there is no copyright notices at all for the vidoes clips etc.. I've used. So I'm fairly comfortable with continuing to use TV/Movie clips etc...

To do: I've recorded audio and started my edit for video 2, plan to have this up tomorrow .

Need to get my post counts up on the forums and try to get active so I can start positing links to my videos.

Plan is once I have around 5-10 videos up I am gonna go hard with YouTube ads and pump out 5-7 fresh videos a week and evaluate where I am from there.
