[Journey] Make my first $400 for my Dad

UPDATE #7

So, I feel a bit sad right now. But anyways, here's the update.

I haven't been able to get any clients for now and on my shopify store I had 5 purchases that reached checkout but didn't convert which is sad.

Secondly, I got a job offer for Germany and the job starts on April 8 and as of right now, I do not have enough money to pay for the flight. Ouch...

I have 1 and half month before I need to have $1200 in savings to be able to buy the ticket.

My dad hasn't received his salary in 2 months so I hope I can do something till then. I feel bad since I had 2 months or more of time where I could have worked, but I didn't. I wasn't aware that my dad was struggling with money, I thought I could make dropshipping work by looking at these youtubers who make it look so easy.

Sad, but anyways.

I'll keep trying, now I guess the goal is $1600 in total. In savings. I hope I reach it. I don't know how. I guess i'll keep trying.

I cannot find a job near my home, so I only have a choice to do it online for now. If anyone can give any ideas or help with anything please let me know. It would mean a world to me.

You can't quadruple your goal and add a tight deadline without a plan. You are going to be overwhelmed and not reach the goal. You need to do what worked for you before. You said you made your first money finding a customer who gave you $200... why don't you do that? Also, repeat what you did to get the $35. Do more of that and forget about affiliate and drop-shipping for now, those can't get you money quick but if you find a client who needs your service you can make money very soon.

Scratch the $1600 and just focus on the original $400, that's more achievable. There aren't secret ways on these forum that will get you that amount... usually people who make quick numbers fast have a good deal of experience and resources.

I agree, forget about dropshipping. You don't have the money to invest into proper marketing, it's unlikely it'll magically work itself out.
Also if you have any website building skills or web design etc you might be able to get some clients through freelancing websites such as freelancer.com.

Yes you are right. The $200 came from tennis lessons that I did. But now I am moving back home, there aren't any tennis academies for me to work. That's why I am resorting to something online.

Yes, i'll try and focus on finding clients to make their websites and forget dropshipping. I should have stopped sometime back, but stupid of me I guess.

My skills are mostly only Shopify website building based. I'll put my work, but I doubt I would get any on the freelancer. But I guess i'll go hard on doing the things that worked for me in the past.

Most people that post offers on those websites are bots or big agencies. If you write a proper thought-out offer, customers will see that you are genuinely trying and pick yours rather than others.
Also, a single freelancing job can easily bring in several hundreds of dollars at once.

Update #8

Going from the last advises. I got 3 leads for whom i'll make the website for free. Let's hope it turns out to be profitable in the future.

FIngers crossed :)

Not to get you off track, but you said you had done dropshipping so you must know how to setup Shopify stores. There are 100's of shopify groups on Facebook you can join and reply to people needing help, or simply let people know you do Shopify store setups and if anyone needs it done to let you know. You can easily charge $50-$100 for a store setup and a lot more if you are good at it and can design a store well. You will be surprised how many people will take you up on your offer if you say you will set up their Shopify store and do a basic design for $50 - $100. it will only take you a few hours to complete each project. That is going to make you money much quicker than growing your Instagram accounts will not saying dump the Instagram project but focus on something that will bring you in money now rather than later. Be persistent and spend 2 - 3 hours a day helping people in the Shopify groups with questions they may have and just make sure to let them know if they ever need help setting anything up on their store that you offer those services and are cheap. if you do this you can easily make $50 - $100/day and potentially a lot more if you get good and aquire more skills such as email marketing services, and help them grow their Instagram accounts. The only thing you need is a Paypal account you don't even need your own website or anything to get started just start talking to people and get the word out that you are looking for work. Good Luck!

FYI: even if you don't know exactly how to do everything you can easily learn with youtube and tutorials Fake it tell you make it.
i'm interested
But can you really easily charge $50-$100 for a store set up?
I'm confused
what kind of "Store set up"? i mean, you can set up shopify with $30 (basic Store) + $12 (Domain) = $42 for Shopify Store, right?
If you charge $50, then you get $8 per store you set up?
.
But still, im confused, why people need someone to set up a shopify store?
it's just set up a store right? not like domain research, niche research, or kw research even product research right?

Hey gentur,

I had experience with Wordpress, I am working on it again to get the quality of my websites back up.

Beginners who start shopify don't make a really well done website and it converts into 0 to no conversions.

I just help people make their website better. Just work on the basic lay-out of the website + give them tips that I have learned. I am not a professional by all means, but I have gathered some knowledge to be able to do these things.

I am trying to slowly transition to Wordpress, but not sure when will I be able to do it. Hopefully soon.

Don’t be so disappointed and keep going. Believe me a lot of people in the world experience exactly the same as you just described here. Now you need to slow done and make some homework, to study the market a little bit more and do the analysis. No rush with upfront investments.

Thanks for the words man. Will keeping trying everyday :)

Do you have a portfolio so you can show potential clients the Shopify websites that you have built? Also, when you're reaching out to people to see if they want a Shopify website built, as you addressing their specific needs? Why not try finding Shopify websites that look terrible, and offering those people re-designs? If people have a Shopify website already, clearly they're interested in having a Shopify website.

Hey man, I have a website that I personally use to show to people. I have 4-5, leads right now that I hopefully make the website for free.

But 90% of the times people just get lazy and stop working for their Shopify stores or they are beginners and too scared to begin with.

Which is making any type of Conversion tough for me.

They say in their real job they have got this going on or that going on and they'll start soon or in the coming break or so.

And then they in the end don't follow up and give up on Shopify. I have seen so many so far, but lets hope I get some work soon. The leads I contacted said the same thing they start work this night or so, but again. No reply yet. Even if they reply after a few days. They did 1-2 things and the next things they'll do next weekend.

Well yeah. Any thoughts on this?

UPDATE #8

More than 2 weeks already since I last updated.
I have reached back home now and I started looking for jobs. So far I got 1 job which pays $12 hour to teach tennis in a local club. Teaching some kids there who want to go professional.

So far made $48 since I reached India, still looking for some other jobs.

Website making hasn't been the best for me, so I am sticking to what I do best, which is Tennis.

Other than that my work visa for Germany didn't work out, which I was hoping for. I'll still be going to Germany, but only for sometime, and once I am there ill try and sort out my visa with my employer. Hopefully once I am there everything works out.

So far I am not near my goal yet. But I'll keep trying and pushing :)

Hey guys,

I guess I didn't reply update this journey really.

But many things have happened from that time.

Since March 10 2019 upto June 3 2020, I have had a regular job that has been paying well enough for me to pay for myself and I could return my most of the money he invested in me.

Right now I am unemployed due to Corona, but it is ok since I had saved some money up before it happened. As off now my work might start again once Corona is away, let's hope soon.

Other than that I am on a new Journey of learning python, so that if I am to go off job again in my career, it shouldn't be a problem for me to find new jobs online.

Here is the link for it:

Final Update -

I almost forgot about this journey. I guess it has been a while. I'll keep it short and give a minor update off how things have been.

Since Corona time -
1) Worked in a company for 2 years.
2) Moved from home country to another.
3) Financially I am not yet good, but I earn money regularly and try to be there for my family.
4) My family is doing fine now. We are better financially than before. We still struggle a bit, but I will change that for sure.

You can follow my other 2 journeys where I post regularly. Thank you guys who stood by me. I hope I can inspire others by being successful soon in the future.
