Journey from MNS to Authority!

So hi guys!
I've been here for long and I was in a slump.
I'll be starting from scratch.
Lets cut to the chase.

Day 1.
Keyword Research (2500 monthly search $2+ CPC High Competition Health Niche)
Bought domain (already have hosting)
Installed Wordpress
Installed Thesis Theme

Cost:
Domain $11.66

Profit: $0

I will be writing my own articles for the mean time. And that would start asap.

Any reason for choosing high comp?

How are you to monetize your website? Adsense? After how many articles will you submit application for monetization?

Update:

Done writing my first article. I will be monetizing using adsense. I already have an adsense account ready.
High comp pays high. I'll be adding lots of articles. Maybe write one or two articles a week so that it will get pumped up.
Ill also have to read some threads here about backlinking them.

yes its an emd (.net). I would be turning this to a authority site if it allows me.
If not, then flip it

3 Articles written,
Site still not index. I've found out that the domain i bought is aged! 2011

I hope this will help in ranking for the keywords.

Update for Day 3:

posted 5 articles,
also got a free blog post from qsera (i had to write my own article. this is 1 pr 2 backlink)
just found out the site was indexed.

I changed my theme from Thesis to Genesis. Thesis was hard to learn and I dont know how to use it. Well Genesis is simple but not that customizable. I'll stick to this one for some time.

According to Moz On-Page Grader: I got an A.

Right now, I haven't monetized yet.
If anyone would be willing to donate some link push, that would be awesome!

2 articles done, other posts in the website has been indexed.
Have to probably focus on link building now

Doing something similar at the moment, will surely keep a close eye on this thread. On another note, I see you chose a keyword that has many aged domains as competitors. How much of a role do you think domain age plays in SEO ?

I don't really know. I just chose it because it had lots of greens
