[Journey] Building chat’s online website from scratch

Hey BHW! My first Journey thread here!
In past i loved to visit chat’s online , interact with people and share knowledge. Years ago people started to use chats to spam and make fake ids. I love IRC because it is very safe and with the cmd the staff can control the website in a more faster way.
Why people dont like the IRC interface? It’s not ugly for me its more basic , you only need to put your login details (username + password) and thats it, easy right?
So based in this functionality i wanted to start this new project and share with you my progress.

What my project plan is? Beta
Build a chat website with IRC functions and a new interface ,
- Add permissions to kick - ban - mute users just by clicking his username
- Add member / user levels with rank colours to create interactions and rewards by posting and activity.
- Profile pictures , signature , age , country , device , and more profile details.
- Create a custom login entry filters ( soon)
- Add CMD features

This is the beta version features, i will update this thread Soon.

Well, about monetization i’m not sure how to do it, showing ads might be good, or make some subscriptions groups (this last one sounds pretty much better) you will understand once i upload the first screenshot soon.

I’m planning to create ranks and special groups added by staff or by posting just like BHW does for example :

With this rule people who have more activity in the public room will get some benefits etc.

Ok guys! Now i have something to show you!

Well, at this moment i’m very excited because i added a lot of more things that i haven’t thought about , so this is the new thread update and the new features added :
1 - Custom login per user , include two functions , one global view and admin view which :
Global view provides
- Username , Rank , # of Posts , # of Friends , Country , Browser
Admin View
Include + User IP . To detect bot visitors and control everything.

2 - Public Room
Can use Text Options ( Bold , Italic , Change text color)
Send emoticons , gifs , stickers , pictures (not built yet) , youtube links (not built yet) , and see the chat global ranking of posters.

3- List of online members ( Rank , Genre , Age , Stars)
I added profile pictures , first by default but now i can upload profile pictures so that’s good!

Please before posting here i’m building this website using pure PHP , HTML , CSS , Bootstrap , JS and MySQL .

Its web based, check the screenshots.
I have stopped working on it got distracted with other projects but will update the thread soon.

Updating!! Will add Youtube feature to share yt links and preview the video through the webchat.

I love the idea of blending the simplicity and security of IRC with modern features like user profiles and an upgraded interface. The permission system and user level ranks are a great touch for encouraging engagement. Curious, are you coding this from scratch or using existing frameworks? Also, any plans to monetize it later, like through premium features or ads?

I hope today I can finally make all the compilations and show the new features.

There are many functions that already work perfectly.
- Add photos
- Kick, ban, mute users and I also added delete avatars only with the right click button.
- Send YouTube videos and play it inside the site
- Send voice messages (I will also add video calls in the future)
- Users automatically increase their range based on their message counter in the public room. With message limitations and SPam detection as well as self-kick spammers.
- I added commands like IRC to execute actions within the chat
- Interface is maintained, I will update it in the future.
- Staff users have a distinctive rank in the room (stars, shield, color)
- Distinction of genders to then add
Female - Hearts, Male - Stars
- Age, and personal data have also been added to maintain an active community.

I’m not planning to monetize yet, but i will with premium features and memberships.

As the beginning i want to use the code for chatters only. People whom want to chat with others , if everything goes well then i’ll scale

Updating the thread
1 - Login + Signature
Once the user is logged can update the profile with a custom signature space
2 - List of banned members and Unban feature
Review the list of banned members and unban users
3 - Testing user permissions
User rights in the chat. Send PM , Leave a Message, Add to Friends , See Friends List , Block user.
4 - Admin Rights ( Chat Frontend )
- Admin Panel - will update soon
Admin rights in the chat room, is not required now to access into the admin panel to update users status , stars , or rank.
5 - Changing user status

Testing the above feature.
