[Journey] Building an iOS & Android App Empire

Hi, maybe your app is using copyrighted material or names, if not the case, check your source code, if it is a Codecanyon code and you don't make severals changes, you will be get catch every time on GP, also do not use the same CC or phone, the system is very simple: you need to be a totally different person in the eyes of Google. If you need some help PM, I have more than 12 years experience on GP.
Thanks brother

Has anyone noticed any loss in rankings recently. There are talks of big appstore algo changes. what have you done to restore them?

They have been releasing algo updates for the iOS App Store since June. June 4th had a big one. For me, the rankings / indexed keywords were quite stable.

I just released two more apps. The iOS app is still for review. The Android app has been reviewed and published just one hour after I sent it for review.

RIght now working on an update for my existing app.

ya, there was chatter of june updates. also initial boost for new apps has been halted. this is all cos of low quality AI wrapper apps flooding the market. now anyone with a prompt can build a simple app and AI slop apps have been increasing due to which review process has become quite strict. unfortunately this will increase competition in the future and our earnings will likely get diluted. just search for "identifier apps"...there are just too many vying for user attention.

Yes, but to be fair these apps are really badly made. Lots of security leaks, often non-functional. If you are a hacker looking for OpenAI API keys, etc. its a gold mine because these people are hardcode their API key into the app.

I totally agree with you tho. To really, really succeed you need an outstanding app in a niche that is not easy to replicate.

Hi guys, happy to be on board.
It took me a full day to catch up on the whole thread, amazing work nakamura.
Huge congrats!

I have an app on the Play Store that I originally published a few years ago, and I’m now working on improving it.

Quick question about Google Play Store localization: do you usually just translate the English version with AI for all other countries?
My concern is that this might lose the right keywords that help with organic downloads. Do you actually research keywords for each market?

Right now I’m using the free version of AppFollow, do you think the pro plan is worth it, or do you use a different tool?

I’ll also give Claude Code a try after your recommendation.

Thanks for now and happy coding!

The reason I also do it on Google Play now is because if I get a lot of traffic through TikTok, I want the Android users to also download the app. I don't want to lose half the traffic just because I don't have an Android published.
Maybe it's worth to do PWA for Android and desktop traffic?
It's opening the stream for people who don't want to install app from store.
On website you are opening prompt "Install from Appstore" or "Use browser version"
Sure, it involves Lemon Squeezy, Paddle or Stripe. But you avoid Apple 30% and Google Play problems. Also people on desktop can use and you can promote on Reddit.

It shouldn't be complicated:
1. Make backend, own REST API
2. Make iOS app, your API wrapper
3. Make responsive website with V0 code, your API wrapper

Might work for Google PLay, but for the iOS App Store I am pretty sure they will not approve this app. Their review is strict and the reviewer will just label your app as spam and reject your app

a) for Appstore make normal app, not PWA, of course in Swift, but using your own REST API
b) for Android / Desktop, in TikTok videos promote website

I hate Android and Google Play, ill never publish app there, of course you can get milions of users.... from India xD

True, thats why its much better to focus on just iOS App Store. Thats where the money is. I spent so much time dealing with Google Play...literally 1-2 years of wasting time. Making new accounts, finding loopholes, buying sim cards, new devices, etc. all just to deal with their bullshit. Waste of time and waste of money.

With Apple? The worst problem I ever had with them was dealing with their review staff, nothing else. In 5 years not a single app got removed, never got a developer account terminated, etc.

YES! For me was on the Play Store, -50% out of nowhere at the end of June. I haven't touch the app in a year so it must be some algo changes. To restore the previous ranks I published new updates and changed the keywords, I'll now wait some weeks to see if the trend changes, I though I got some soft visibility ban out of nowhere.

Was your experience similar? On the GP or AppStore?

Maybe your target SDK version is too old, after update, buy some installs and I think will work

If you have a few minutes I have sent you a DM.
Would appreciate it if you get back to me.

Thanks

Did u build ur base code yourself or got it resdy from somewhere?
By myself. Its not so difficult with AI.

Btw guys, Apple just made an update to the App Store. From now on you can have Custom Product Pages for certain keywords for organic search. This feature was available before for Apple Search Ads only. Now its also for organic search.

What does it mean? When a user searches for a specific keyword, lets say "Water Tracker for Babys" but your niche is only Water Tracker, you can create a custom product page (screenshots) that would, for example, show a baby and write "Baby Water Tracker". This means your conversion rate, logically, your conversion rate will be much higher, because it would show what the users are exactly looking for.

Huge W.

Just about to go nuts.

As I mentioned before Microsoft Azure gave me a $5k Azure credit. However, 2 weeks ago I received an email there is some violation of conduct and they throttled my account. They didn't give me any example, any log or anything. In the Azure account I don't find anything related to rate limiting or throttling at all. Literally nothing written.

But I can see that in my apps sometimes there are errors like there is rate limiting. Also some users complain to me and say the app doesn't work (because probably Azure hit me with rate limiting).

So what did I do? Opened a support ticket with Microsoft Azure and its just going back and forth and this person literally doesn't understand whats my problem and this person just keeps asking me questions I already answered and I am like "Guys, its YOUR platform, please look IN YOUR backend to see if my account is rate limited or throttled (as you wrote) but they just keep asking me random questions." I am just about to lose all my shit. Its either intentional or these people have no clue what they are doing. They even ask me for examples and error logs, etc......GUYS, its your platform, you should see the errors, you should see the logs...it was you who sent me this throttling email, you should know whats going on, not me.

Its just a back and forth for 2 weeks, daily...never encountered anything like this with any support

Why don't u try to open a new support ticket maybe the one who responding will be more qualified, this can help sometimes with support i tend to apply this when I have any issue with companies (not azure btw i don't useit)

Good idea, lets see whats going to happen

Those high-impression pages are worth attention, and interlinking tends to strengthen both category and product pages
