Heya BHW folks!

I have been a member of BHW since 2012! I have gone through many different methods for making money, from CPA downloads (who remembers cleanfiles?), fiverr gigs, reselling hosting, youtube CPA... all in all I may have made around $5k and a lot more that I tried and failed. But, between studies and work I never fully committed to anything in particular. Now I believe I have proper free time and some money to invest so I wanted to start a niche blog on one of my hobbies.

I decided to make this journey to keep updating it and stay motivated (and maybe even get some help from you guys ;) )

So, now to the Jounrey in itself:

The plan is to create a niche blog on a fresh new domain (didn't have any luck with expired domains and there werent any that I liked for my niche). I am using google cloud for hosting and already setup everything for Wordpress (generatepress free theme and a bad logo created in canva).

I have also published 5 articles that I wrote on my free time.

Did some keyword research and already have a list of 30 articles to be written.

The plan:

- Target low competition keywords on my niche. Mainly informative response posts (How, what, is, are...). I look for them in Google autocomplete and manually check the SERPs to check the competition.
- Create article for each post identified. The length to be decided against competition (mainly +300 words than the average of articles in the SERPs)
- Create social media for branding (mainly twitter, FB)

Content Creation:

- I will be writing some of the content myself and outsourcing some others. Currently I have ordered from two writers and awaiting their results and see if they are okay or not.
- I plan to target at least 1 article / day. Will try to scale this as soon as I get more writers and have a stream of content ready.
- As you may have realised, English is not my first language but I believe if I do some effort I can get pretty good results. My plan is to get this website rolling and fully outsource the content creation and focus on other aspects.

Monetization:

- mainly ADs (maybe Adthrive, ezoic...) But nothing for now until I have decent traffic
- I may be able to get Affiliates for some products but there isn't much out there.

Link Building:

- Nothing much for now as I am focusing on KW research and content creation.
- Signed up on HARO just to start receiving the emails and catch anything that may be related to the website.

Goals:

- Don't stop?
- Short term is to get at least 100 articles published
- At least 30kPV for ads

Budget is around 150$/month but will change this as I see fit.

Let’s see where I end up! Feel free to ask any questions I will try to answer your questions whenever I can. Suggestions are appreciated :) !

I will try to update this at least once a week!

Regards!

What tools are you using for kw research? Have you looked at blogs in your niche (your competition)? You can research what kw they target, which might help you.

Also, include UGC search queries for the first batch of articles
Good luck!

At the moment I am only writing response articles as I believe they are easier to rank.

Ahrefs, Google autocomplete and PAAs.

I start with Ahrefs by getting the broad kws, then I look for easy kws that the (easy) competition is ranking for. Then I go to Google autocomplete and see what is the actual search query and then build an article from there.
Can you make any revenue from ads?
I believe I will be able to?

Also, include UGC search queries for the first batch of articles
Good luck!

yes! That is one of my aims at the moment: get the most articles that I can easily outrank other UGC (mainly reddit, quora and forums)

Thank you all!

Update #2:

- 6 Articles published (around 1500 words each) (Total 14 articles published)
- Been researching more and more keywords
- Discovered around 5 or 6 low competitors who are publishing articles regularly, will try to sneak my way through their rankings.

Total: -$175

The hardest part of building a niche blog is starting it up. The first step to building a blog is to write content.
If you have the time and determination, you could start with one niche and slowly build it up to a multi-niche site.
People who have done well on BHW have been able to build successful blogs from scratch by investing time into research. Hope You will be successful.
I have a question: How many keyword you are targeting per 1500 words?

I dont target keywords per se, I am writing articles about the general search query. I don't really think about exact keywrods

Best of luck in your journey.
Good luck, following.
Thanks!

Can you recommend a tool for researching keywords please?
Heya, the easisest way is to brainstorm ideas and use the autocomplete soup (check youtube plenty of videos about this)
I am using ahrefs to get the kwrds of my competitors and try to make a better article than them.
