Great journey, I am definetly following this. What have you dobe to get decent website speed with ezoic?

Thanks! In terms of speed I didn't do anything. Just set it up as they recommended with Leap and I don't feel the website slowed down at all. I've read a lot of people have problems with the page speed, I think using a lightweight theme helps a lot.

I built my own WordPress theme with as clean code as possible. Also not running a lot of plugins and I don't have images in my posts (not even featured images as they're only displayed on the homepage and category pages).
 
Really inspiring journey. I like the solid plan and sticking to it. I feel the hockey stick in analytics coming real soon (9th-10th month). Best of luck!
 
It seems as if the traffic has leveled off, getting about 200-220 visits every day consistently for the past weeks. This month will not be as big of an increase in terms of traffic unfortunately.

I'm wondering if the traffic will soar in a few months or if this is my cap for the current amount of articles I have. I highly doubt it, but maybe I have chosen keywords with too small volume? Considering wether I should buy some very high-quality affiliate posts ($100+ per post) and send some high-quality backlinks to them. Do you think this is a good idea?

What type of backlinks are best? The budget I want to spend on backlinks is about $100-200/month. I'm thinking a few guest posts on medium sized blogs, but maybe that's not enough? Will have to do some keyword research into the buyer keywords and see which ones I can possibly rank for with at least 1000+ volume for the main keyword.

Any advice going forward would be highly appreciated! I'm sure there are some knowledgeable people in the thread.

Also, should I get a few backlinks to the specific post I try to rank AND a few to the homepage? Or can I safely send all the backlinks to a single post? I have some natural backlinks to a few dozen of pages as well as a few to the homepage already, nothing special however.
 
Before going with backlinks, I would try to answer these questions below, because maybe there is something you can fix for free. Besides, in theory, going with low competition keywords (and low volume kw) should not require building backlinks in order to grow traffic. It may speed up the process but in general - it shouldn't depend on links, so if there is no growth, it may indicate other issues.

Try thinking about those issues below:

- what is the average time one page versus average post length. For instance if the wordcount is around 1400, and the time on page is significantly lower than 1 minute, than it may be something to work on.
- what is the bounce rate - if it is significantly higher than 60% then I would try to fix that. around 50% is ok.
- what is the page per session ratio - same as above, something around 1,20 I believe is ok.
- how many pages are generating this consistent 220 visitors traffic versus overall postcount on your website. is it 10 or 100? Ideally, it would be good if it was generated by at least 30% of all posts you have active.

You mentioned that you might have been choosing kw with too low traffic. In order to check that, I would analize the GSC data. You may probably find out that there is potentially good traffic behind most of your KW, but the average position is to low to get any traction. Check that, because increasing the kw's volume during research (usually it comes with higher competitiveness of this kw) may be a strategic mistake :) I saw on one of your screens, that your average position in GSC is 19. For me, it may indicate that you actually work with too highly competitive keywords. It doesn't have to be like that, but it may be, and then you would need to do completely opposite.

Thanks, I will check! I'm not going to buy backlinks this month, want to wait a bit more, hit it with some more content and try to optimize as much as possible first. I'm still growing in May, just not as much as I was expecting. Will wait and see what happens in June :)
 
Yesterday we broke two new milestones. First we surpassed 250 unique daily visitors, and second we had our first 25 visits in one hour. Let's hope it keeps up!
 
Amazing journey OP. I am also on a blogging journey, however, my content is generated by GPT-4, but completely proofread by me and I am adding quotes and images too. My site is only 10 days old but I really appreciate that I got to learn a thing or two from your journey
 
Not much to update about, haven't happened much lately. However, on Wednesday the site did get its first $2 day on Ezoic, which is super exciting! We had an EPMV of $9.47, which is a lot better than the $6 average we've gotten so far. I'm really hoping this is the new normal and we start seeing EPMVs of around $10 regularly in June.

Just had ChatGPT write me an e-book that I will use to build my email list. It turned out pretty good, didn't have to give much additional info other than the first prompt. Just have to do some edits and then make it a pretty PDF. Will try to focus on getting the email list started this month, just not sure how I will monetize it yet, other than affiliate links.

May update is coming soon.
 
OP, We both got into the same journey! :D But my preferences and techniques were different than what you are doing. I'm at 32 post, and hopefully I'll be reach 300+ post this month and, Site is just one month old. Let me be your competitor xD

  • Make Internal linking strong
  • Avoid adding unnecessary tags and categories
  • Use fewer outbound links
  • Use Interest & Twitter for your website as it related to the gallery theme
  • Create Wikipedia Source links to your website
  • Find peak hour, when you get the most views, and post accordingly
  • Find suitable communities on Quora, and Reddit to drive more traffic
  • Join Pinterest and Twitter to promote your post, As according to your theme they are suitable
  • Focus Areas where you get the majority of traffic and build a tree map for proper content flow.
Hopes this suggestion will helpful for you to reduce the bounce rate and increase traffic on your website.

Thanks, these are all great points and you're correct, the bounce rate is a bit high. However, I want to do as little work as possible with this site. I'm not going to build any social media presence, but the other points I will eventually get to.

Thanks for your input. Hopefully, when I eventually sell the site sometime next year, the new owner will be able to improve on the other things.

Yes, and will keep going for another 6 months minimum! Consistency is the key, have not built a single backlink to the website but already DA 10 and growing.

If you want to sell, for a better price consider building a social presence, don't push social aggressively but do as your convenient, This will add good value to your expected price. Secondly if possible add some kind of Ai tools to the website, for example, a price calculator, design ideas, suggest tools. Such a website is great ROI. Best of luck for your journey.
