If you're planning to build backlinks, then create as many parasites as you can and send backlinks, otherwise make 4-5 good parasites and link everything else to them. The keyword research and SEO practices are a must, without them it's difficult to rank. The following parasites will easily rank in 2020:
Pinterest - keyword in title & description
Reddit - keyword in title & url. upvotes & keyword in comments help you rank better
Twitter - keyword as hashtag & in description
Google sites - Google treats them as websites. keyword in title, description, image alt tags, headings, subheadings etc.
Medium - keyword in title & description

The ranking factors change from parasite to parasite, so you need to check what's working for others.

You can't send much traffic from parasites to money site. They are good for a little traffic and backlinks. They don't have much CTR as people don't click on such sites. Quora and Medium have relatively high CTR. I wouldn't recommend creating a lot of content on parasites, as they eventually lose rankings. Just target high volume keywords and create backlinks if they show up in top 10 SERPs. If you are looking for long-term affiliate blogs, then web 2.0s are better.

Moreover, if you're creating parasites for traffic, then you should consider 2 things: whether the users go beyond first page and whether you can rank on first page. Most users don't go beyond page 1, and the traffic is negligible if they find what they are looking for on first page itself. It's better to think about all these things while creating your campaign.
