Journey back to $X,000 / month

Hey all, never posted here but now's as good a time as any.

My journey is a little different than most here, in that my sites used to be quite profitable but I've let them lapse into a state of ruin. At their peak (maybe 3-4 years ago) they were making just shy of $4,000 USD / month. Managing sites was never more than a hobby, though I did plan to do it fulltime if I hit about $10,000 / month. Never got there, and over time life got in the way. The last couple years have seen the sites steadily decline as a result of complete neglect. Nowadays, I'm lucky if I get $500 / month.

Site Stats:
All amazon affiliate based.
About 10 of them in total.
Best one earned about $10k / year.

I've got some time now and I'd like to see if I can build them back up to their former glory.

First tasks:
1. Dig up login info for all sites (about half done).
2. Clean up sites, check for dead links, etc. (did a couple).
3. Buy some SEO Packages to start (took 3 promising looking ones from BHW Marketplace).


I'll post what I'm doing, what I've tried, if I forget anything just call me on it and I'll post it (the obvious exception being the keywords).

Everything is relative. That's a lot in India, but barely enough to live on in New York or San Francisco.

Good luck, following, it should be easy for you to get back there, except this time, maybe you'll be quicker to go full time so you can keep them working good.

A large part of the problem last time was my methods were 100% manual, and thus didn't scale. If I can recover my sites this time, I'll need to outsource and automate a lot more.

Good luck with it. it's nice to have old sites and not have to worry about building too many links too fast, they should withstand it.

* Logged in, updated sites, and fixed dead product links.
* Jazzed up the sites a bit, made them look a bit fresher.
* Wrote about 20 articles for the one that used to earn the most.
* Bought 4 packages as trials from the SEO Packages forum, if these pan out I'll order some for the higher earners.

* Used to rank #3 for the main keyword.
* Earned about $400/month
* Currently not ranking.

Site #2:
* Magical Beanstalk package
* Used to rank #1 for the main keyword.
* Earned about $300/month.
* Currently not ranking.

Site #3:
* Captain Sparrow package.
* Used to rank #1 for the main keyword.
* Earned about $200/month.
* Currently #59.

Site #4:
* Lady Gaga package.
* Used to rank #3 for the main keyword.
* Earned about $300/month.
* Currently #30.

* Received report a few days ago for DeadShot package, expect full results from this in about 11 days.
* Bought 2 packages from the SEO - Link Building forum, both from the DeadShot owner since that's the only report I've received.
