Hi.

I'd appreciate any pointers in making the most of my skillset and how I'd be able to make a little bit of extra money.
Not looking to be a millionaire here, or to act like I'm one either, so even if it seems like too simple information, it will be good to confirm what I do and do not know.

Background
Twenty something year old in the UK.
Currently on a college course aiming to do English at university. I've received offers and the work at this level is easy so should be able to get in.
Enjoy writing but have done none at a professional level. Biggest work being a book I've published through Amazon's Kindle to Direct Publishing service, along with some help from an editor. Only a few family members and friends have bought it, and less have actually read it. Otherwise I've written a few essays and short stories in the past but not done anything since being on the college course.
General experience using tech. It surprises me at the amount of people that won't even try to work something out like Google Forms or Powerpoint on their own before immediately asking someone else how. Jailbroke a few videogame consoles a while back too which I appreciate is a bit harder for the average joe to do.
Minimum wage work experience. For some reason I have a soon to experience SIA license which I have no real interest in using but other minimum wage jobs that might as well be useless for what I want to do other than a confirmation on what I want to avoid. Cannot keep a job for the life of me.

What I Would Like
More realistic direction on what I can do with an interest all things writing. I am not going to say that I want to be an author as a realistic goal that earns lots of short term money. Even jobs like editor and proof-reader often need experience from what I've read. Can't seem to find anything but either I'm looking in the wrong places or need to change the goal.
Information on how I can spread what I currently have out more. I find it hard to share my work as I'm not the kind of person who likes to comment on the quality of work I do. Even this post feels a bit out of character for me but I know that I'm not going to get anywhere if I don't communicate with others, whether that be through advertising or just talking to people in the know.
Less important than the other two but does anyone know where to meet people who enjoy making stuff who aren't theatre kid or pretentious hippy types and that I can actually meet in person? Appreciate this is easier said then done but I can't find people that I know the quality of my work is going to improve with when they have no self awareness how they come across otherwise. I've got friends and as much as their kind words or criticism are appreciated, none of which are able to offer any potential ideas on how to grow/improve or anything like that.

More than willing to update this post in response to any questions you might have. Even if I get no response this was cathartic to type.
God knows I want the help to stay away from terrible jobs, don't we all?

Jobs like editor hire fresher also. You can join some startup in this area, they give chance to freshers often.

Create a journey first, think what to do later...good luck

Hey there @bigdeniro and welcome to the BHW community. I would suggest posting an Introduction first with a little bit about yourself and then just take a look around threads that may interest you...that way you will soon 'meet' like-minded folk who can help you to navigate ~ so much great stuff here and a whole host of members with expertise. Don't feel over-whelmed, just breathe and take your time....after your Intro, follow the Master Newbie list. Wishing you all the very best.

Go to your local newsagent, and buy every newspaper and magazine on the shelf that interests you, and then write to everyone of them quickly with direct appreciation for the work, tell them you bought the publication and enjoyed it, and the named reporter. Once you have a list, check their websites for free and do the same again, and search for other similar sites maybe with just online presence only.

Then message your collected funnel back and say to the editor, I subscribe to your publication and I enjoy your work, where or what could you recommend I do for submitting similar work as [insert name] on the subjects of [insert subject]

Good luck on your quest.
