Ending and Recap
I think it's been obvious, but I don't have a lot of passion for these kinds of sites. I enjoy the programming aspect, but I really hate making and promoting the content. I might still grind a bit, but I don't have the dedication to continue adding journey entries. I already missed last week!
I really think I made a great site and just didn't go hard enough on content creation and promotion. Maybe if I paid for content I would feel better about working on this type of site but I don't have that kind of income to spare.
Anyways, the site is actually not doing bad for being inactive for 2-3 weeks. 16 visits last week and 31 visits the week before, almost all from Facebook. Nothing has really ranked for Google which I think is interesting.
Lessons
This was my first step into IM, so I learned a lot. I guess here's the main takeaways for me:
- IM isn't a shortcut, sometimes it seems like a hack but it isn't
- Facebook can be way better than Google for traffic, even long-term
- You should always choose a niche that you can enjoy making content for
- Facebook/Instagram is really fine-tuned for advertising and promoting content, no other platforms are this advertiser-friendly
. Maybe you disagree, but these are my main takeaways right now. Moving forward, I see IM as a way to promote business, not a business unto itself.I still have some interesting ideas for the future, so this isn't the end for me. I think next time I'll actually find content that I like to make before I start a journey lol.
